I am presenting to you the skin I made for SPIRE vst (virtual instrument).
I finished my internship so i had time to work on this. I worked actually full 5 dayss.

Spire is an amazing instrument synthesizer, but ever-since SERUM came out a month ago,
spire, seems a bit childish (visually talking). In the aspect of sound, well it is still a beast.

So o have a better visual representation of this great synth, i made this skin.

I changed everything from the ground up. I made completely new PNGs.
I used CorelDRAW X7 to make this.

PLEASE leave comments and feedback if you like it or not.

    Cheers. Bresilla.

Most of the text/labels is hard to read. Refer back to the stock SPIRE skin, their text has jaggies, almost like pixel-art style and it's easy to read.

    Beautiful !!!
    Which version did you used?
I agree that the labels should be a bit more readable.

I know a place where if this where posted it would have huge success

At least Reveal get a better attitude than Lennar who didn't provided different skins or any mean to change them, and closed KVR accounts of ppl providing skins kits (not dll, of course)
He killed Scott Kane KVR account, whereas his skins are one of the best (i love the white one) :
    B&W

About your skin, it is a very good Serum in(spire)d skin :mates:
May be brighter background instead of black, to create more contrast
    Good job !

Really good job, surely there's space for perfecting it, but I like it a lot.

I started making my own skin (dark style too, with Dark grey/bright green look, quite similar) but then I gave up
cause it was taking me too much time. And I'm no pro at all at graphics.

    Just a couple advice:

To make the text labels more readable, use a larger interspace between letters, a 5% increase is more than enough.
Also, put a slight shadow on both white and black texts.
Try using a dark grey shadow on the white text on upper panels,
those on the lighter gray (the lower are already on very dark background).
And white shadow on the black text labels. Very low transparency and just a 1pix shadow should be enough to make them much more readable.

Maybe increasing the font size should help, but a 1pt increase is already too much I fear. If you can increase by half points that would help a lot readability.
A slight bright shadow around the black on/off buttons (like the drift one) should make them easier to find,
I fear they will be a bit difficult to see on screens with low luminosity.

The shadow on the selected FX button should be even better upside down imho, like they're pushed toward downside (my english is far from perfect here, sorry).
Also those colored buttons would like much cooler if you can add a bit of shiny gradient layer to make them look more 3D.

Sorry for all these comments, they're not meant to say it's not ok, this is truly great, and I know how much of a pita is to skin Spire.

Keep up, this is going to be awesome !

the aliasing on the outer ring of the knobs looks really bad.. u should have made it 2-3pixels in width..OR, used some creative gaussian blurring to smooth it out.

The surface of the knobs also have no depth at all, just flat black..unrealistic and not so visually stimulating.

lastly , if your going to make skins, try to do something original, not a copy of someone elses work.

Your font sizes and choices.. also.. IMO.. not good, blurry and lack clarity.. Hint.. most fonts have to be used at certain sizes to take advantage of their individual design.

Just my opinion as a UI designer myself. Only intended to help you on your way.

Otherwise.. nice of u to give it a shot and put something alternative out there. Cant hurt and a lot of what u have done is great. :mates:

Hey, guys, thanks a lot for your feedback.
I will make changes on the skin probably next week, i will
have more time. Thanks again for feedback.

@One Reason, i am sorry that you think i copied, because i actually
did not. Hell i don't know that i copied, but if you say so.
And about the design being bad, well, i tried my best. probably,
i am not as near good as others that make this staff, but i gave a try.

I will make the skin possible probably next week, when i do those
changes in text and some other tweaks.

    Thanks again guys for feedback.
    Cheers.

Thank you Bresilla, we wait patiently.

This is a conversation I saw yesterday in Spire's website:

    User:
What would be really fair and clever, is to separate the skins files from the plugin itself (out of the dll) so designers could offer new skins without posting the dll.
There are already a bunch of skins out there, and allowing them to be distributed legally, is only endorse the situation.
It could be interesting too if there where a bigger sized skin. I work as a sound designer, and after 4 hours on this GUI I got blind because of the small fonts (Yes I'm not so young now).

    Answer from Spire's staff:
The resizing will be in next version. Also in future versions we planning skin changing availability.

So these are good news I guess.
