    you need to HEAR it, not in words. if you cant hear it, dont bother with them.

    You could say that based on their characteristics some can be a better fit for some sounds than others (e.g. fast attack, transparency/coloration), but in the end it comes down to personal taste (As most stuff... And especially with digital [non-modeled] ones). Experiment on different/your sounds with different models, then you'll know what works for you. The info above and other similar can be a good starting ground, mostly if you're looking to emulate recordings/sounds you like or use tested techniques.
