right now i lost a harddrive with my daws on it
had to reformat - i used cubase and reason a bit before but live is a different beast
and i want to understand and use max for live
can anyone point me to the supreme quick start guide?
would be best if in digital book or such format

Dont know about best way to learn, but you have some tutorials on youtube(as you probably know already). Probably not the best way but good enough to learn some basic stuff. For example:

First of all why not to take a look at the max help file and the tutorials inside? you tube tutorials are sometimes incredibly verbose...
