Which DAW is the easiest to learn and most powerful?

 

what do you prefer, easier to learn or more powerful?

I like to use Studio One and is very complete to me, but like our friend Spidervis said, would be nice to try out both... and choose wich one works better to your need and preferences...

 

REAPER - been using it for years...its a super power house...no crashes...handles absolutely EVERYTHING I toss at it.

 

Yep. it doesn't hurt to try. I only tried three DAWs and ended up with Reaper, which is the one I find most comfortable and powerful for the kind of music I make/work with. Also it is very affordable, has constant updates and there are hundreds of tutorials out there, plus it's own dedicated forum.

Oh, and the fact that you can choose from hundreds of skins for it... awesome bonus.

 

For me, I picked Studio One for recording/mixing/mastering because of its ease of use, intuitive workflow, and the mastering portion of it, which lets me easily go back and forth between the mix and the master.

Also I have a lot of Presonus gear, so I think I only bought the professional version for $100.

Picking a DAW is like picking a route to a destination, everybody has their own perceptions of which route will be faster but you still end up getting to the same place in the end.

 

I have used both and like both. For me though i prefer to use Reaper. It just does everything i need and I find it really uncomplicated to use. If there is ever anything i am stuck with or need to know the Reaper Forum is excellent and you can always find answers on there really easily.
And of course as others have said you cant beat the price!

STUDIO ONE - good DAW, but it seems like "Marketing DAW"

 

I was gonna cover the basic points of the two DAWs as I have both, but it looks like the smart people already beat me to it. Two things to consider, though:

1) if you don't have ASIO, Studio One can be a bit more stubborn about running. I imagine it depends on your particular hardware setup, but Reaper will run just fine on DirectSound alone.

2) Studio One doesn't have a native bridge, so it's best to buy a copy of jBridge if that's what you'll need.

Personally? I keep coming back to Reaper time and time again. I can definitely see the merit of working in Studio One, but it just feels more natural to me to use Reaper.

Studio One. Overall probably the best DAW i have tried (I have gone through them all) I cant think of a DAW with better speed of workflow. I wish it could handle clips/looping like ableton though!!

 

Well i thought so too a couple of years ago then instead of making vst3:s developers started to make 64 bit vst2:s??
It is only very recently that most developers start to make Vst3:s versions of their plugins.

And i bet that Reaper will have Vst3 support the day it is the really needed maybe even in the next version..
And hey they do listen to what people want compared to many of the big ones like Cubase Pro Tools and Logic.

But we still miss a dedicated mono track
and some other core features but it will come eventually

 

Studio One. Powerful DAW, intuitive well thought out workflow, a good user forum, and IMO Presonus engineers are very receptive to sensible user input suggestions for improvements which many are implemented in subsequent versions.

Like MYCbeats said, I also have a lot of Presonus hardware so the Studio One Pro cost was very reasonable. There are also multiple versions at different price points that many might fit the bill for a newbie starting out, then upgrade to a higher level if/when technical growth demands it. I would like to see many more tutorials available.

Have tried Reaper for awhile but keep coming back to S1. There does appear to be many more "commercial" as well as YouTube tutorials on Reaper, as well as the previously mentioned excellent User Forum for those with issues & learning curves.

Finding a DAW that fits the user is like buying a car...take enough test drives and you'll know it when you find it.

Just my two-cents worth.

 

Depends,two different aspects are easy and powerful,like asking what to get,Linux or OS X,OS X easier to learn,Linux more powerful,same here,Studio One easier to learn,Reaper more powerful.

 

So what did you picked in the end?

 

they are both great in their own ways but i think reaper just edges it because of the sheer amount of customisation and add ons etc. it really pays the learning curve. studio one is good for mastering and is quite compact with not to many options to distract. they have both been very stable for me so i find it hard to call..
so i use both : )

i am terrible with vacillating on which daw is best. but, i come back to presonus often because it is relatively straightforward and not to many distractions which means getting to actually make some music quite quickly which is what is important. but i love reaper.. and fl studio .. and ableton.. and cubase also .. blah blah : )i love messing and playing so i guess i will always potter around to an extent. but if i am forced to pick one to get things done it would be studio one at the present : )
