Hi guys, new to the forum. Big up everyone inside.

Just wondering if anyone wears earplugs at events/gigs? You look kind of whack when you wear them and have had the odd comment from drunk people asking why the hell you're wearing them in a club, but as a producer I'd rather not risk damaging my hearing so young...

Also wondering if anyone here DJ's and uses plugs and if so what brands/makes are the best? I'm playing out in my home town in a couple of weeks but don't fancy having my eardrums torn up by the overly loud club system.
I usually just grab a cheap pair from the local DIY store but I'm not sure that's going to cut it while in the mix!

Apologies if this is posted in the wrong section.
    peace.

Ear protection is mandatory for someone who want to avoid tinnitus, and drunk people's odd comments are... well they're odd.

    Here's a good manufacturer in France : http://www.interson-protac.com/
And the direct link to the pdf brochure : http://www.interson-protac.com/download/Depliant_pianissimo.pdf

I guess it's possible to get an ear print in your local clinic and send it to get a custom made pair.

For me, playing live without it is a no-go (I'm into rave parties since 1992)

    I Always wear ear plugs,

when i'm engineering in a venue, even when i'm setting up in the studio for a session.

nothing worse than drummers that don't understand to stop.

    your ears are very important.

Thanks for the recommendation, checked a few reviews and these seem like a decent choice! Thanks!

Dangerous sound level is a bad habit.. yesterday I saw the Swans live.. I like them, but every musician wore earplugs and so the engineer, that is in my opinion not acceptable, because he has the responsibility that the overall sound is correct, including the volume. I wore earplug as well but the frequency balance was destroyed. :dunno:

After some research it appears there are some earplugs that reduce the whole frequency spectrum by the same amount which I imagine would be more useful in this case. They're a bit more expensive though!
