You should check out AudioSex Academy. Useful resources for music production and will be perfect for someone new to the game or even someone that just wants to hone their skills.

start to use lowpass and hipass in EVERY channel.
Essencialy the music have lots of mid range and litte low in bass and kick (the style asks).
Also use more compressors and limiters

Follow Catalyst's link and you should get everything you need.

Make sure every instrument/track has been eq'd, pan, high pass etc before you move onto mastering.
The drop at 1:34 has a great build but the following part falls flat. The synth lead is too loud and the kick should be banging. Side chain that lead line ;)

From what i've quickly listened, the Snare is kinda left-sided. You need to put it in the center, it will sound more balanced.
Also the lead synth is mushy and unclean in the low-mids and maybe even in the mids. The kick has no click so gets hidden behind the lead. Try also to sidechain it correctly with the lead, because it barely sounds sidechained.
I don't know if it might help you, but pick up a commercial EDM song which sounds similar to your track production-wise and pay attention on how the elements are laid down. You don't need to hard follow the way it sounds, but only to get a picture on how the professional mixes/masters sounds actually. If you hear their track more brighter, add some high-shelving eqing on the masterbus, if it sounds cleaner in the low-mids then add a bell around 200-300hz area and cut a few db (this should be fixed in the mix, but you can still have a chance in the mastering stage to partially fix it).

    Goodluck!

Same here, I can hear two major problems with your mix :
    - the lead is really crazy loud
    - the kick is not kicking at all
And I also second the sidechain idea.

I think the problem is your speakers. I don't know what speakers you're using, but if you've not realized that the lead is that loud, then you should get some better monitors. There's nothing you can do, even if you have the best ears in the world, to get a good mix if your speakers keep on betraying you.

I think overall the mix is not bad at all, it's actually pretty good. Here are some of opinions.

I think one little issue in the mix is that the synths are covering the vocal just a little bit at the point. Try cutting the synths at 500-1000 Hz, just 1-2db, that will make more space for the vocal to sit right on top.

Maybe some compression on the kick to bring out its attack a little more and turn down the main synth 1-2 db, that should also balance things out a little more

Give the entire song a shelf boost starting at 16Khz, 1-2db to brighten it up, it's a tiny bit muffled.

Other than that, you did a pretty good job on the mix. Could use mastering of course to polish it up as well because it is lacking some dynamics and color.

Compression can't create/enhance something which never existed in the first place on his kicks. If his kicks has no higher-frequency information, the compression is pointless. He needs higher frequency information in order to make the kick cut more through the mix. He might try a transient designer pushed hard on a single kick sample, which will cause an "accidental" click at the start of that kick sample, but it will be uncontrolled and it will eat up a ton of possible headroom.
The best thing he can do is rather adding a kick-ish click sample with no low-end serving as a layer on the top of his actual "low-passed" sounding kicks, or replacing them with some better ones which actually contains a nice prominent high-end attack. That's why is best to fix the things in their creative stage/mixing stage instead of trying extra approaches & plugins later as a "fixing" attempt.

To brighten it up, he should start the shelf around 10khz.
16khz is too high and it will bring him only the "air" part of the enhancement. Brightness starts from 10khz. You might say he can use a sharp Q on the 16khz shelf, but that
will make the EQ curve kinda steep. His results can get more naturally through a smooth Q shelf starting around 10Khz. There might be elements into his mix which don't even have frequency information over 16khz so they'll be kinda out of the EQualizer's range and it won't benefit as much as it would benefit from a lower-placed shelf. He can drop also a Desser after that 10khz shelf(or a multiband compressor) in case he wanna protect the mix from the "sharp-edged" elements and he can automate its bypass so the Desser gets activated only when the "sharpy" elements are playing.

    All the best.

I agree with fuad that the mix is pretty ok, but your kicks just don't fit in.
the bad news is if you want to fit the kicks in the whole mix, the whole mix should be redone....

I really don't believe in eqing everything, I'm more a less is more kind of producer. but hey thats why my tracks get mastered in the end :bleh:
