I got one but dont use it much i got it to work sparingly in Cubase as a Mackie Hui.

It never worked like i wanted.I miss the transportbar function and i want a jog wheel function too and a masterchannel fader.

It is simply to many parameters to set before you can have it to work.I.e i never managed to get more then 8 channels to work when i mixed i pressed the s.c next group button but nothing happend and i couldn´t figure out why.

I´m more of a plug and play kind of guy so i thinking of a real mackie or the above mention novation.
So nowadays it mostly collects dust

Yeah, I can't really call it 'garbage' myself either... Is it top of the line ? -- no. But, for the money (Under 200 USD) -- it works quite well. I have a few AKAI controllers I use as well (MPD32 & MPK49 - Perfect for pads and keys) but for fader work (Mixdown Automation, Punching In & Out, Solo & Mutes, etc) -- I find myself on the BCF2000. Ideally I'd like to get myself a Tascam US2400 controller -- but, these are no longer in production and a bit pricey when located. I also have a PreSonus FaderPort -- which is a nice little piece, but its been back in it's box now for months. I grabbed it initially for its compact size (I have more room now ;)), anodized aluminum housing, transport control and motorized fader application. I do like the smoothness of the motorized fader on the PreSonus product better than the BCF2000, but dislike paging thru channels to make fader changes. The BCF allows me to manipulate 8 tracks simultaneously (essential when working on tracked drums (fades, mutes, and solos)), and has great recall. Additionally the BCF is quite easy to assign, and often works well for whatever is in focus. I considered the Mackie Control, but it's a bit high priced for what it is -- so I decided to save some change (for now) and go with the Behringer -- and it has worked out fine for what I need.

This is what I'd really like to get however -- (every time I find one though its either; A) I have no money, or B) It's over priced):

    Tascam US-2400
is the first DAW fader controller with enough faders to handle a typical recording session - and feel like a real mixing console - without lots of bank switching. It makes an ideal control surface for Pro Tools, Logic, Sonar, Cubase, Nuendo or Digital Performer workstation software.

The US-2400 features 24 touch-sensitive moving channel faders and a touch-sensitive motorized master fader, each with 10-bit resolution for precise level control. Each channel has dedicated select, solo and mute controls. Twenty-four rotary encoders are provided, selectable to control pan or aux sends. Plus, all 24 encoders can send standard MIDI controller messages for control of plug-in parameters. Each encoder has a ring of LEDs that can display the current setting or can be set to display channel meters during recording and playback. A set of solid-feeling transport buttons are also provided, as well as a shuttle wheel and a joystick for surround panning. A new software application, Soft LCD, adds on-screen display of track names, parameters and other information being controlled by the US-2400.

Compare it to any other control surface on the market today (and the extra expanders you'd have to buy to get 24 motorized faders) and you'll discover that the US-2400 gives you more control for the money.

Ranging from 600-1200 USD (Used Gear)

    • Agreed, definitely missing transport control -- I use my AKAIs for that

    • You could probably assign the BCF a 'page/scrub' function (to a rotary or pair of buttons) to scrub back and fourth through the track - Not a replacement for the jog wheel, but would get the job done

    • That's another thing about the BCF that is lacking (as with many devices/products these days) -- proper documentation / support -- I set mine up to page through 'track banks' (1-8, 9-16, 17-24) when I first got this bish -- yet I'm not sure how, or where I got this information from (If I recall, I'll post instructions here)

The BCF is fine if you are on a budget. Although I must warn you. the fader motors are a bit loud and it lacks a few features here and there, BUT if you have never worked on a higher end mixing desk, I doubt you will miss anything. Like PYRUS MALUS I also have the fader port and prefer it, but the BCF sure looks great when i have noobs in my house. It's funny how a few motorized faders can WoW someone. Don't be that person. Do some research before buying.

I have one and I can't complain about it. I guess it is the only thing B that would be unfairly bashed at. I believe it does its job really well. No frills no fails. It is complicated to set up and the Behringer site won't be much helpful, but I got to set it up for Pro Tools via Baby HUI emulation and it works ok. Plus, you get 16 channels of MIDI interfacing and the BCF2000 can be daisy chained up to 24 faders with 3 units. It is true that the faders can be noisy, but one gets used to it. Now I have a used Digi 002 and put my BCF 2000 to rest, but I made do ok with my BFC2000.

For the price the bcf is a good product.

I ll never buy Behringer for anything else but they make good midi controllers.

Only downside i see is the noise of the faders but it s not a big deal.

I have a BCR 2000 too, for the price is good.
I use an editor to mapping values of each knobs and buttons, it's working very well, i control macros in ableton and i can use and recall presets without any issue :bleh:

I use it with uc-33e,i mean i use the midi 2 channel from uc-33e not directly bcr to send a receive midi, and xone 4d :grooves:
    I'm on windows 7 64 bit and ableton 8.2.7
