Hooe somebody can help me with this
Always had R2R releases up until 15.0.10

I tried to install 15.0.30 without succes.
The install starts but gives me a. Error message (see attached)

R2R system 1.5 is installed
Certificate installed and test OK
Silk sim installed
Mediabay installed

Downloaden a fresh 15.0.30 copy ook

When i install 15.0.10 no problem

I cannot see any attached Error Message
Did you uninstall previous version before installing latest?
Did you reboot after installing the latest R2R System and Silk Emulator?

Spoiler: Install (r2r)

Uninstall previous versions.
Mount ISO file. Run "Cubase15.msi" and install.
If you have "Steinberg Library Manager (SLM)" installation,
=> Run SLM.
=> Drag & Drop included "Content" folder to SLM GUI.
=> Install all. Done!
If you dont have SLM, do manual installation.
=> Copy "Content" folder to "%PROGRAMDATA%\Steinberg\".

Copy license-engine-access.dll from: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Steinberg\TEAM R2R
and Paste license-engine-access.dll to: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Steinberg\Activation Manager and overwrite

Never seen r2r install or search for files at root of c drive:
c:\Steinberg.Cubase.15
and installed a lot of Cubase over the years
When you mount the Cubase 15.iso after it opens you just install Cubase15.msi and default paths should not be what is showing in your error it should be something like:
C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 15

 

It started with V15.0.20.
The same message for V15.0.20 and V15.0.30

When i install V15.0.10 no problem at all.

I also did the uninstall with pc optimizer for deep clean

 

Did you download from sister site?
You can also use the installation [only] from V.R [version] too if you ignore everything else like vr activation.

 

Try Revo Uninstaller instead.

 

I normally just use Windows Uninstaller for Cubase [r2r] and no issues but do use Revo for others quite a bit.

On Mac, these Artist.xml files are mostly inside the actual cubase.app, as well as wavlab. And then there is a directory of them on the system disk, one for each plugin. Windows is of course different, but I wouldn't immediately jump to a permissions issue not allowing those folders to be created. Gpt says the files should be in here: C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Cubase 15_64\, and in here: C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 15\VST3\ Cubase Plug-in Set.vst3\ Contents\ Resources\ VST XMLs\. As examples of the usual directory structure.

I looked on another site and the VR release of 15.0.30 has zero comments about it, which is good because usually those comments indicate problems with the release.

 

I also got that error, but you know what was the problem? it's more stupid than you think....

Because the directory is very long!

I swear, why on earth these programs (or windows) don't tell you when the directory is very long, like it's a very easy thing to identify and therefore to at least tell the user to change the directory.

Anyway, here is what I did, I put the installation files into "C:"

so, instead of having the installer in a folder like "C:\Users\yourname\Downloads\Steinberg.Cubase.15.0.30.R2R/Cubase 15",
just move it all to "C:"
and problem solved (if that's actually your issue)

did you unpack the iso properly?
Is the path too long?
extract with ultraiso (sister's gonna help) or winrar and put the directory near the root directory and give it a short name.
When you extract to your desktop, give the folder a fancy name and so on, depending on your username you can run out of characters for path very fast.

 

could be uac kicking in if youre installing at root, try running the install as admin

 

Downloaded VR version, ultraiso and will try it again.
Doesn't the original steinberg installer works with R2R?

R2R had released an emulator to be used with all SB Products called Silk Emulator. from nfo file, search on sister site for it:

On Mac, users can just download official versions and patch them, like you are asking about. The PC releases sound a little more involved. Just some more info to look into. People mention having to update the emulator to newest version.

The path in the error listed is only 140 characters long. indeed you should patch the OS to lose the path limit anyway, but in essence the path string here is well below the default 260 character limit in any case.

A few things...
- you are MOUNTING the ISO (as a "disk drive") and installing from there correct? you're not trying to copy the install data/directories to your system drive and attempting installation from there, correct? (i.e. with win10/11 you should be able to simply right click the ISO file and select "mount iso" from the context menu)

- the latest version of SILK EMU == v1.50 - you have this installed? Saw versions listed for R2Rsystem (which is also v1.50 btw...) but didn't see anything listed for the EMU...

- you have actually verified that the source file(s) are present in your installer ISO yes?
