In need of some new headphones that are over ear and ideally don't have a swivel on them. Sadly and stupidly Technics doesn't make my favorites anymore (RP-DH1200) and the current flagship model has on ear with a swivel that just wont stay tight on my head when on/off cueing and moving around on the sides of my head when using booth monitors. The pairs I tried years ago frankly sucked!

Searching around various sites, I found the Pioneer DJ HDJ-X10, which has a better hi-rez frequency response, 3,500 mW maximum input power, tight isolation, the same as the old Technics, along with a supposed "military grade" locking mechanism on the swivel.

My problem with Pioneer is because years ago I bought several pairs that all crapped out in one ear after a few months of use, but that was the older flagship model. So just a bit worried the new model will do the same. Pioneer says they're also made for studio production work, which would be a big bonus, but not the main purpose for buying these.

Can any of you active DJ's attest to the latest flagship Pioneer's or can recommend phones similar to the Technics?

I wouldn't use the term "active", but I had a pair of the Technics at one point. At the time, Pioneer basically copied their design into the HDJ-1000, I liked those maybe even more than the Technics they had copied. Now, I would probably test the Technics EAH-DJ1200, and if I didn't really like them I would just go back to Sennhiser HD-25's.

These sounded good, were very loud, and they got rid of the swivel part of Technics' design which was where they would usually break. Long discontinued though.
