Checked email & was about to hit the delete key when I noticed the price. $17.76 U.S. for their take on the 1176. No info on when the reduced pricing will end. KA1776 Regular price is $39.99.

I also grabbed El Jaun Limiter which gave me another 10% off at checkout.

Formats & system info are at the bottom of the product page.

For me this seemed like an easy call and, imho. I was not wrong. Added to an existing session on the kick & toms wanting to push them forward while holding steady. With the default setting everything just worked. Only had to back off the output about 1db for the kick & 2db for the Toms Bus.

From there I tried the Ration selectors landing on 8 for the kick. Controlled tone with punch while retaining low end definition.

Used 12 for the toms which brought forward the punch & attack ( no transient designer needed).

Also...maybe grab the Power Grid Disruptor while it is free. You will need to create an account to get the serial#.

Tukan 1176 sounds better in ABX blind tests.

I did a 1176 test of my own last year when I installed LUNA. The Tukan version was in the middle of the pack somewhere. I did another test round a few months or so ago& landed on the Purple Audio at the top of that list. You have to push into it for the magic. Like you would do an 1176 Bluey.
    • The KA1776 has good control while giving additional harmonic richness. Then there are the added features:
    • HP & LP on Input & Output along with scale view selection
    • Choice of Stereo/Mid Side
    • Ability to link or unlink CH1 & Ch 2
    • Sidechain with Blend control
    • Oversampling in Minimum Phase or Linear Phase
    • Analyzer with different views
    • Built-in manual
    • No iLok
In short, a tool for shaping audio in a good way.

Korneff is really high quality, I use a bunch of his plugs in a daily basis. Though, not only I have more 1176s than I need, I also have more compressors I prefer over the 1176. I would love to see some kind of modular EQ with tons of back panel settings from him, though. The Sitral was pretty cool.

Appears that the more you buy, the more you save. Problem for me is the price of the older plugins really have not dropped far enough although, they are very good. Under $50 are the ones I am considering. Thanks for the heads-up!

Keen observers will notice a massive price drop. The Power Grid Disruptor is officially free. Their most expensive, chaotic plugin just went from $347.99 to a flat $0.00.
