I don't understand the single modules. Just make the freaking Pulsar!

 

Hmm, that would be amazing, but I'm afraid it's probably impossible to recreate the entire Pulsar-23 in software. The hardware itself offers almost endless possibilities and interactions between modules.

That said, even with just PULSAR 23 BD and HHT, you can already do a lot and get surprisingly close to the original spirit of the instrument.

The BD module is much more than just a bass drum. In Chromatic Mode, it also becomes a bass synth, allowing you to create basslines and melodic parts. The HHT module includes an additional modulation matrix that provides over 4,000 possible sound combinations, so there's really a lot to explore.

Most importantly, both plugins are based on the original schematics and analog behavior of the hardware, which is why they capture so much of the character and sound of the real Pulsar-23.

 

i own the bd one sounds good but was v disappointed with lack of proper modulation features and it didnt really sound like a pulsar23 because of the lack of experimental features would be good to see a full pulsar 23 with a proper mod matrix maybe do the gui with those pins and crocodile clips hoping for improvement it's an opportunity to make something cool hope its not missed

The spirit of the hardware is the experimentation, circuit bending and unexpected results that comes from patching things around. There are a thousand analog kick and hat plugins, most of them can be guided towards sounding like one of these plugins standalone. I own the Pulsar, and a couple other Soma toys, but would still love a full recreation in the DAW. I can only imagine the chaos that would ensue. Imagine if you could have multiple instances open that talk to each other, similar to how the moog effect plugins do.
