I can't see how a niche magazine like Sound on Sound can afford to miss months of publication. Maybe...

Ah, i didn't phrase it correctly. Unavailable for "public download" is what I meant.

Maybe Sound On Sound is not so niche after all: it's the leading pro audio magazine (subscribers and print circulation) worldwide, with not only a UK, but also a US and Brazil print edition (yes, there is a world outside of the anglosphere).

Last I checked, it employed 45 people full time, in addition to the numerous regular contributors. Not exactly niche.

The original meaning of the word "niche" is dog house, by the way (a much smaller house than a human house, hence the dual meaning).

But to get back to your misunderstanding, SOS granted free digital access during the pandemic - out of a sense of solidarity with the music community (seeing as nearly all of us were instantly out of work, seeing as so many of us had to sell gear to survive).

In the spirit of gear gospel, for lack of a better term, SOS maintained this policy for the last 5 years. As of this Spring, they've ended it.

This means that free digital access is or will be no more - and the first casualty was the PDF copy made available to us on the sister site.

I hope that clears things up for you, and that you can return to playing your video games, or instrument, if any.

    So long.

I still have access to the latest replica mag in my SOS account and I haven't had a paid subscription for a couple of years. Maybe if you just create an account you still get the digital copy?

Negative, what you get is the online "REPLICA" (which has been cool - but is being phased out, as stated by SOS above).

I've been a reader and subscriber for 20+ years - but with all the international travel, it became pointless to get print copies delivered to my place in L.A.

I bought an iPad and got a digital subscription instead.

On occasion, I'll pop up in a WH Smith or other retailer and buy the magazine. It's easier to read by the pool or at the beach.

The iPad doubles as an IFE device though - I download what needs catching up on and watch on my own terms (much better quality too).

I read it for years too, all the way back to the '80s. Most magazines are struggling in the internet era. I still miss Omni magazine and Heavy Metal.

I'm a fake musician, I just come here to worship real musicians such as yourself. Where can I hear some of your music?

I hate pseudo intellectual know-it-alls, pontificating poncing pretenders who think they're displaying a high command of the language when what they're actually doing is signalling to the world that they're prats.

What do you mean, you're a fake musician? You can't play, or you pretend to play, or you play with ai?

Also, I'm allergic to all worship - kindly stay away, please.
