Yes we live in an instant gratification society now where anything that has to be waited for is never fast enough and consequences no longer seem to be of as much concern as they should be.

 

Here's a simple question, would you let A.I have control of your bank accounts?
Before you answer that, with the natural answer being 'of course not', think on this, 99% of all Global banking transactions are already done with machines so it's only one more step. We do not control the choices corporations make. If we did, most of the ugly stuff the world sees in the news, and I am not going there because it's not allowed, it would not exist either.

 

That's the ultimate question : "what to do ?"

As long as we "play the game", the game goes on.
Whatever ppl do INSIDE a system, it just justifies the system.

Even if we pretend to "destroy the system from inside", we just become official enemies ... and still justify it. they pretend to be against a system, but at the end they are just another flavor of the same system.
We all know the answer, but can we face this reality ?

If you want to destroy a system, just don't feed it.
But there is a catch (of course) : you are no more earning any money from it.

Revolution start with a TOTAL society abandonment.
Anything else just feed the beast again and again ... it does for millenaries.

Nothing stops you from making music.
But earning money from it is another story.

 

I already claimed the similar thing for Suno.

They literally use the uploaded music from the real artists to create new ones. That's the reason I never uploaded my works there.

Do you guys still can believe that AI can create music from the ground zero? No. They just use the already-created music

 

This point was raised several times.
Most ppl don't understand AI is stealing human productions by internet.

Side note : indie artists were ALREADY paying for the big artists for decades.
Because labels and music distributors were taking a part of their income to produce and promote BIGGER artists.

Same with Spotify : smaller artists don't get any income and their ads money goes to bigger ones.

 

We have the gift of consciousness, whatever that sentient gift actually is, and are here for 70 or 80 years to live a life, which is whatever you make it.

Throughout history, there have been small handfuls of skilled human creatives who've been able to eloquently express life, in all it's history, wonders and emotions for the entertainment and enlightenment of all. Be that in art, music, literature.

It is fundamental to being human.

Pandora's box has been opened, and god help us all.

Progress isn't something to fear, it needs to be embraced, lighten up all you Luddite doom mongers, stop fretting, there is no conspiracy, no battles to be won, or wars to win, get on with your lives, your music, you can't turn back the tide.

I tried AI a few years ago cos it was free to try, shoved a rough own vocal I'd recorded a few years ago into it, wasn't that impressed at time, went back to it a few months ago and it's now on my previous EP but one. So i intend to sign up for unlimited use and do as many vocals as i can muster, as they got females and rappers too, be a laugh, a learning experience, plus I now know I'll get some useable results.

The AI i used did improve my dry vocal with processing and affected my pronunciation/tonal quality for the better perhaps, was only one line, Tell Me How You Feel' so hard to tell.

The AI take was used alongside two other takes of me labelled weak and strong, cos even the weak one had something to say and finished product sounds just like me, not AI.

I'm sure in a parallel universe AI taking out jobs and easy out our lives are fucking good news to everyone. But we are not in that timeline and this is not progress "for all", this is the next wealth's concentration in the hands of the few via theft, again. The industrial revolution, with all those Luddite doom mongers opposing it, led to other types of "revolutions" as well. Don't forget that.

As for what you do with the tech, is up to you, nothing to do with the OP, you're not youtube stealing at mass scale. Have fun or whatever.

Irrelevant, couldn't give a monkey's AI will make absolutely no difference to the quality of my work, other than possibly improve some of it, it will never be able to replicate it though as each song is totally individual.

For donkey's years, Casio/others have been blessing us with Bossa Nova, Jazz, Rock, Dance beats etc for use in our work, that's about all AI can muster.

It already does and will only ever produce trite trivial pastiches of any genre and no doubt will eventually have a stab at producing a new genre, if it ever has any real success it will be by luck, a one hit wonder.

And I suppose, if AI does ever crack it BIG time, consistently, it's guaranteed there will be humans at the front end, good luck to 'em.

 

As we can speed up production with AI, I thought it would be nice if there was an AI listening to all that shiny stuff, maybe even buy some recordings.

Faster, further, bigger, crazier—but humans aren't robots; humans need their time and their breaks. Robots should perform heavy tasks and relieve the burden on humans, not add to it. AI robots shouldn't compete with us humans, but rather serve as a technical aid! We need clear, fair rules—not the law of the jungle!

 

Exactly! These ai music generating models have existed for over 2 years now, they are still stuck with that same extremely recognizable very generic "AI-dna", I have never actually tried to figure out exactly what it is because I always skip content/tracks when I hear it (not because I have any hate towards ai, that ai-style is just not my thing, and if others enjoy it I have no reason to hate on that). I think the technology just isn't there yet to create music with a good balance of every decision/combination that goes into creating a good track, it is probably something similar to the graphic design issue where every poster it generates just looks so extremely AI. If anyone knows any tracks that are ai-generated that actually sounds "good"/unique, I am very interested!
