Sometimes Ill get new follower, big whoop. Then maybe a day or two later the follower unfollows, usually I dont follow them, either because I havent had a chance to listen to their stuff yet or theyre not my thing.

Do some (many?) SC users just follow people looking for a follow back? I only follow if I really like the artist.

Anyone else experience this kinda thing on Souncloud?

I think is common...lots of weird things happen...some followers didn't even listen who they claim to follow...
I have the impression that some people use the empathy of 'I follow you so follow me' as a part of a promotional strategy, or maybe people need traffic... for some pyscologycal score...who knows the impact of it.
I don't blame them but it gives me a wrong impression although sometimes Sound Cloud is nicely surprising...you might find new networks.

 

Yeah Im not bashing Soundcloud at all. I think its an excellent platform.

Follow for follow is bullshit. Since I posted this thread I got a new follower. This guy followed me before and dropped me after a day. Now following me again.

Can you block people on SC? This shit makes my blood boil...

I'll usually "follow" people back if I think they actually listen to my music. But if I get "followed" by an Austrian Post-Techno, Drum & Tuba, Chiptune Dubstep band who is following 10,000 people, I usually just go directly for the "mute user" option.

 

Yeah, I've experienced that a lot. It actually fueled my infamous paranoia recently but I was paying closer attention (i.e. talking to someone else about their account) and noticed that the follow/unfollow seemed to coincide with track releases which sucked because I actually liked the guys music so I unfollowed him just to not have to deal with it.

as for soundcloud, i'm loving it! i've sound some great music and met some cool people-

and have experienced alot of "follow me and i'll follow you" lol

i only follow people if i genuinely enjoy their music
