    "Officially endorsed by Sequential"

    Quoting the website :

For the first-ever official Prophet~5 plugin, Sequential has collaborated with GForce Software to honour the sound, feel and character of the original instrument in software. It brings together Sequential’s place in the history of analogue synthesis with our long-standing experience in creating expressive, authentic virtual instruments.

Across the Rev1, Rev2, and Rev3 character models, the Prophet~5 plugin delivers the tone, response, and musicality that made the original instrument so sought-after, from the warmth of the SSM designs to the punch and presence of the Curtis filter.

All of the original hardware functionality has been included, giving you access to the tones, behaviours and performance character that made the Prophet~5 a fixture on some of the greatest recordings of all time.

The original 38 factory presets from 1978 are included, alongside an extensive, professionally designed modern library of over 420 patches.

There's quite few Prophet-5 emulations already, I wonder how this one stacks up against others. Prophet-5 is one of my all-time favourite synths, and while I don't own one (yet! I'm sure one day), I've had access to real one many times, it sounds soo good. I really don't know how successful this plug-in will be unless it offers really more authenticity than current ones like U-he that has been out for many many years and is very good already. It will be difficult ...

Sounds pretty good in the video and I like the additional functionality.

Hopefully there will be a few review videos out in the coming days.

    Thanks for posting.

No doubt G-Force will pull off a good emulation. Their Oberheim's are stellar.

Tested against Arturia, Softube and u-he, and it's definitely the weakest by quite a margin unfortunately. While I love GForce for having emulated so many Oberheim synths, I don't think their modeling techniques are great. All of them have a distinct flat sound that reminds me of not-so-great analog emulation that try to get their analog sound by simply slapping some distortion and high-end roll-off on the output. So not even speaking about authenticity, I don't think this sounds great. The u-he's filter section isn't really authentic, but the plugin itself sounds amazing and you still definitely get a very good Prophet sound.

When I compared the OB-Xs, it was the same story. I felt that the Synapse Audio one was the best in terms of sound (but I dislike the interface), followed closely by the Arturia and the Surge OB-Xf (free and open-source !). But the GForce had this distinct high-end muddiness that I don't hear in the hardware synth.

Who knows, maybe it's intentional and they want to add a sort-of tape workflow emulation. Regardless, it's not my cup of tea. To me, it sounds muddy and thin :dunno:

Yeah on this you can hear exactly what I was talking about, especially on the brighter sounds like at 14:40 or 19:00.

I agree for the most part. I love GForce plugins, but in my quick initial testing wasn't that impressed. I mean, it doesn't sound bad, I just prefer others over it. My order would be Acustica Expanse, u-he, Arturia. I will give this more time and experimenting though for sure. I love the sound and workflow of the prophet, so the more the merrier. I own one, but still use the plugins regularly lol.

I completely believe you that the Acustica sounds great, but man fuck that company with their cringe CEO, stupid DRM and disgusting AI marketing.
