Hi,
does someone have detailed install instructions for VSL Vienna Synchron Piano Player v1.3.1542 Incl Emulator-R2R? There are none in the archive, and also no install order. NFO says to check VSLEMU manual to understand how it works but that's also not there.

On the last page of the release post there is a long tutorial by user nuggiez. Can someone confirm that this post is accurate? There were no responses to it.

Also I've seen that ItUsed released VSL Pianos PianoCore Volumes FiXED, and also his own release.

How do I use his fixed pianocore files during installation of R2R's version (are they neccessary, and if not, what doesn't work without his version?), and also, are there seperate install instructions for his own release as well?

On windows you can find the manual at C:/Program files/TeamR2R/VSLEMU

It goes something like this:

-Standard R2R version: This is what the manual is for, just follow the steps. This one came with a rar file that contained the pianocore files which are necessary for installing libraries, some of these files were corrupted.

-ItUsed fixed pianocore volumes: so, those corrupted files i mentioned above? these are the ones that work properly.

-ItUsed's own release: Essentially the same as R2R's release but easier to use.

Maybe? The way it works in the original R2R release is that you install the libraries and then extract the corresponding pianocore file (.syvolume) that you can find inside a rar file that was included in the synchron player you downloaded, then put that .syvolume file inside the volulmes folder in ProgramData/VSL/Vienna Synchron Pianos (you can check the manual for specifics and to know which one is which). If you do that wrong, the plugin glitches.

The thing is, in the first release some of the pianocore files in the rar were not working properly (hence the fix) but i think since then it was re-packaged and the fixed files are included but don't quote me on that. If you have the fixed files, just use those. At the end of the day what matters is that in the volumes folder, you need to have the corresponding .syvolume, (and no extra ones).

Everything workings fine, just make sure to get the latest version.

No, he made it so it works like the R2R release, same folders and everything. Just read the VSLEMU manual and you'll get the instructions you need. Differences are:

-You don't need to do anything with the volume files, so you can just skip that step.
-the cache builder is right there in the same folder where the R2R folder is (in ProgramData/VSL/Vienna Synchron Pianos), so you don't need to navigate to a different folder anymore.

 

About Manual: When installing VSLEMU (from R2R only), you will be prompted to open the pdf manual. The same manual can be found later at the installation location of VSLEMU CacheBuilder (only in the R2R build). My version is not provide manual, because it's been a long time since VSL players were released to post it, and I think that during that time, everyone who was interested probably figured out how to use it a long time ago. I think it's just not necessary.

About pianocores fix: The fix is universal for any version of the player, either from me or from R2R. But my version installs all the necessary components, fixed by pianocores, among others.

 

my cache builder also runs automatically.

I read about this .pdf file in the Audioz post comments as well but it seems like it only gets installed when you install the VSLEMU, however the archive doesn't specify the install order in the first place. Kinda weird for such a release to come without instructions that you can check before actually installng things. Never seen something like this from R2R.

Also there's a gpu audio engine file in there. What do you do with that, or can you ignore it?

But yes @mk_96 thanks a lot for explaining this to me. I'm still confused about whether the R2R release is fully functional or not. Some comments wrote about glitches and also visual glitches. The it_used version seems to not be based on the R2R version so I wonder how those versions compare to each other.

@it_used Your Bosendorfer Imperial Release seems to contain some files that have "update01) in them. Should those be copied along with their normal versions that do not have "update01" suffixed, or is it important to somehow omit some of those?

 

About my version: Initially, my version was just an automated add-on that just allowed cachebuilder to run automatically, then I thought, what if I try to do the same, I have great opportunities to fix the malfunctioning functionality, as well as make support for other players, that was my motivation initially.

About the R2R functionality: The problem that causes not all microphones to turn on is fundamentally tied to pianocores, that is, even my version with the original pianocores will not work correctly, some microphones will not work, the fixed pianocores are universal, they are suitable for my and R2R versions.

About Updates: Yeah, this is a patches also, you also have licenses for this.

Previously, when each license was checked and signed manually, this automation could save hours of time. My habits are like this: if I see that something can be automated, then I don't have any questions about how much time it will save, I only have a question about how to do it, and I'm already starting to think about the automation pipeline.

 

Is it me, or have all of your VSL uploads disappeared from RT, it_used? I can find none of them, no matter what I search for (user=itused, user=it_used, name=vsl, vienna symphonic library/libraries, etc.)

 

That's what happens when you place the volume files incorrectly. Last time i checked the R2R version worked fine (though i didn't test everything). I'm using ItUsed version now, no issues either.

VSL uses GPU audio as an option for managing reverbs, i don't know if this setup also installs the addon (VSL Powerhouse) or if it's just there for for future releases (i can't enable gpu audio, but my system is not compatible so that might be why it doesn't show up). So anyway, i uninstalled it and nothing happened, so it seems to be optional.
