I've been running Omnisphere v2.0.3d for a couple of years (R2R release). It was a 55GB download, including the Steam library. I notice that there is a v3 on the sister site, but it's only a 50MB download. Does this mean that there will be no patches/samples included?
Is there an upgrade available which includes the full patch/sample library?

This topic has already been covered after the initial release of V3 and recently. Using the search function properly will reveal loads of info. The official documentation also covers upgrading, saving custom presets and the like.

If you have seen any messages about missing anything, everything is fine. Whatever the size of the Core Library, you apply updates as they come for the plugin, patches & soundsources which usually much smaller.

If you an uncluttered install of V3, I would follow the official upgrade guide on the official Omnisphere documentation.
    • Backup/Save custom presets & patches
    • Do a clean install of V3 & apply any updates
    • run standalone & activate
    • reinstall/import any third party libraries
    • import/ copy custom patches again via guide
The current V3 Core Library with updates & the Bob Moog Library with update applied is 59GB. All of the V2 stuff is there in V3 with the exception of the Bob Moog Library. It's in Separate categories. Under 'Directories' you will see the new structure. Explore. Select a sub-directory or 'View All'. Then select something from the 'Category' drop down list.

    OK thanks.
I suspect that I may be trying the wrong version. I downloaded "Spectrasonics Omnisphere v3.0.2c Incl Patched and Keygen-R2R" and ran the installer but when I ran the standalone app I got this error:
"Cannot find Omnisphere DLL at: C:/ProgramData/Spectrasonics/plug-ins/64bit/Omni„.Reinstalling Omnisphere may resolve this issue."
I've checked the (Win11) AV history and it hasn't quarantined anything. Should I be using a different release?

    You need this:

    Spectrasonics Omnisphere v3.0.2c FIXED

    KEYGEN ONLY-R2R
    Team R2R | 28 Mar 2026 | 0.7MB

Spectrasonics Omnisphere v3.0.2c Incl Patched and Keygen-R2R
    Team R2R | 28 Mar 2026 | 50.4MB

Spectrasonics Omnisphere 3 STEAM Core Library
    AudioZ | 02 November 2025 | 56.7 GB

Spectrasonics forces you to use version 3; you simply have to overwrite the STEAM or Omnisphere folder. In my opinion, you can't keep the old version.

Using both versions in parallel? That's not possible and isn't supported. The installer overwrites the old version to avoid conflicts (e.g., with VST/AU plugins). If you absolutely need to keep the old version (e.g., for compatibility testing), you could back it up manually and uninstall it, but this is risky and unnecessary.

Spectrasonics Omnisphere v3 Core Library [STEAM] 57,6 GB

The "STEAM" subfolder "Omnsiphere" looks like this:
    Defaults 3.89 MB
    Documentation 37.6 KB
    Settings Library 2.55 GB
    Omnisphere 56.7 GB
    Soundsources 51.6 GB
    Wavetables 2.51 GB
These numbers aren't 100% accurate because I also have my own sound banks installed.

    2026-06-10_144147.jpg

    C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics\STEAM\Omnisphere = 59 GB

Many thanks for this - I will grab the fixed Keygen.
It looks like I already had the correct installer for v3.0.2c. Any idea why the standalone app couldn't find the Omnisphere DLL's when I tried to run it?

Yes, I read about your problem—that it couldn't find the .dll! Just reinstall the "Standalone and VST3" components! That suggests either an incorrect installation or that the previous version was deleted. You need version 2 installed in order to install version 3. Please check the relevant folder to see if the .dll is there; if you're installing the VST3 version, check to make sure that file is there too. C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\Spectrasonics\Omnisphere.vst3\Contents\x86_64-win Check the images—look for the VST3 extension (.VST3).

Ah OK thanks I didn't realise that v2 needed to be installed first - I was testing this out on a VM without v2 installed. So is this the correct sequence of events?
    1. Install and activate v2
    2. Install and activate v3
    3. Install v3 Steam package (and allow it to overwrite the v2 Steam folder)?

You DO NOT need v2 installed first.

I recently got a new desktop and went through the joy of installing. For Omnisphere...
    1) installed STEAM contents on prefered drive (external SSD in my case)
    2a) installed Omnisphere 3
2b) installed Keyscape and/or Trilian (if you plan to use these, suggest you do this at this point as well)
    3) ran Omnisphere standalone to authorize all Spectrasonics products.

Once everything was authenticated, added 3rd party packs.

**If previous installs were buggy, suggest you use something like Revo to clean up any all remnants before trying another install.

Yes, that’s the right approach. Regarding point 3: if you are asked to overwrite, simply answer "Yes" (copy and paste).

I did try installing it without v2 installed first, but when I ran the standalone app it failed - couldn't find the Omnisphere DLL's

OK so I just tried installing v3 on a machine with a working v2 installed. The omnisphere DLL's are all still in place - 4 copies in:
    c:\Program Files\steinberg\vstplugins,
    c:\Program Files (x86)\steinberg\vstplugins
    C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics\plug-ins
    C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics\plug-ins\64bit.

The installer gave me the same error message:
    "Cannot find Omnisphere DLL at:C:/ProgramData/Spectrasonics/plug-ins/64bit/Omnis..
Reinstalling Omnisphere may resolve this issue."

Do I need to move the v2 omnisphere DLL to C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics\plug-ins\64bit\Omnisphere?

The installer that I'm running is Setup Omnisphere v3.0.2c.exe (299MB)

Yep, this is exactly how I reinstalled as well. Even TEAM R2R's instructions tell you to completely remove the previous version before installing Omnisphere 3. Follow the steps in R2R.txt from Spectrasonics Omnisphere v3.0.2c Incl Patched and Keygen-R2R:

    Spectrasonics Release

    Uninstall & Clean Up
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Uninstall previous version(s).

Clean up by removing following files.

    * VST dir
    * VST3 dir
    * AAX dir
    * %PROGRAMDATA%\Spectrasonics\*.exe
    * %PROGRAMDATA%\Spectrasonics\plug-ins\*.dll, *.vst3

If you want to remove previous license, remove
    %PROGRAMDATA%\Spectrasonics\AUDIO*.DAT

    Runtime
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Make sure that the latest version of TEAM R2R System is properly installed.
Check included Runtime.txt to see the version requirement.

    Install
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Just run the setup.

    Authorization
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*** We recommend you to authorize in the standalone version ***

    Make computer offline.
Otherwise, you would miss the ChallengeCode by URL redirecting.

    Run the software. Authorization starts.
Click "REQUEST AUTHORIZATION". Your browser opens.
Check URL of the opened browser. It's something like this :
    https://www.spectrasonics.net/authorization
    ?prod=Omnisphere
    &vers=3.0.0d
    &ch=SmMY%256QnT%3dXyx38KlPUBqkTBx%3fB8

Tips : URL is also available in "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Spectrasonics\rhurltemp.html"

    Run our keygen.
Select a product you want to activate.
Copy ChallengeCode from URL (the value of "ch") to the keygen.
(In the case above, "SmMY%256QnT%3dXyx38KlPUBqkTBx%3fB8" is a ChallangeCode.)

Click "Generate" in the keygen. License will be generated and copied to the clipboard.

    Click "PASTE" in the software.
    Click "CONTINUE" in the software.

    Done, restart the application.
    Enjoy!

My first attempt to install it was on a VM that had never had v2 installed, and I got the same error.
Is it important that v2 has been installed at some stage, then uninstalled, before commenncing the v3 installation? As there is no uninstaller for v2 (it's simply a question of deleting the relevant files), how do I know which files I should be deleting and which ones I should be leaving in place? I'm thinking particularly about the omnisphere.dll files

Version 3 is an update that requires Version 2 to be present on the computer.
Therefore, you must first install Version 2—the full 57 GB.
Then, follow the instructions (NFO) provided by R2R.

If you have a Omnisphere 2 installed, you can update to v3. It will replace the plugin, overwrite factory sections of the STEAM folder, and leave any 3rd party stacks inplace. However a version 2 install IS NOT required to install Omnisphere 3.

I did the former - used r2r release to replace v2 with v3 - on my old computer. No issues at all.

I did the latter - clean install on a machine with no other Spectrasonics products- last week on a new PC. No issues at all.

Used the same set of release files in both instances.

Folks having issues with installs likely have pre-existing issues on their computers, or are missing a step in the process. We've all been there. It's frustrating when you're in the middle of it. Following someone else's convoluted and inaccurate advice won't help.

Do you remember which release of v3 you used to do the update from v2 to v3? I ran the v3 installer on a machine with v2 installed, and it did not offer an upgrade option. And it failed because it couldn't find any omnisphere DLL's.
(I used the installer from Spectrasonics.Omnisphere.v3.0.2c.Incl.Patched.and.Keygen-R2R))

Yes, that's the one. However, per the release NFO, you need to uninstall most of v2 plugin components before installing v3.

If you've been installing v3 over v2 and not getting anywhere - understandable given the NFO - I encourage you to forget that approach and do a clean install. For that you need the release you mention and the O3 Core Library.

Yep... just those two releases gets a stable O3 install. Read the NFO, and follow the witches instructions. They invested considerable time and energy to make it that simple for us.

Download and install this version and strictly follow the instructions:

Spectrasonics Omnisphere v2.8.7c Patched-josenacha No Bank Install Warning
    P2P | 4 June 2025 | 86 MB

When you go to install a new .omnisphere bank, it won't cry about Piracy or whatever it says like that. Figured some of you might dig it. In any case, here ya go.

    1: Install Spectrasonics.Omnisphere.v2.8.7c.WIN-josenacha
2: Copy and replace the files in this release

I notice that release contains only a DLL and VST3 file. Presumably I first need to install this:
Spectrasonics Omnisphere v2.8.7c Incl Patched and Keygen-R2R

...and then copy the DLL and VST3 files over the original 64-bit versions?

    (I currently have v2.0.3 installed)
