The same could be applied to their music engine. If they wanted, they could have hired musicians instead of scrapping streaming songs to train it. But we all know how it started and where it ended.

This is exactly how eleven labs does it. Hires musicians to make their music model. It also sounds pretty unique due to it having custom data. Its still a lil sterile but getting there.

fully agree every company scrapes user data. Malice can be part of it, but also product improvement can as well. Im part of the ableton beta program and they told me years ago that they figured out how to get the click rate down on certain tasks due to the data collected.

Well, there's no clear equivalent of male waifu in Japanese, so english-speaking people made that up.

A funny thing is in Japan they consider cool to throw English words in a sentence, which is cringe. That's called Engrish.
And like you mentioned in Japanese certain phonemes/orthography rules are so hard they use it with English even knowing it's wrong. That's why they called it "husband-o"
Happens specially with words ending in "t". If you ask for "toilet?" in a Japanese restaurant nobody would understand. But if you ask "toilet-o?" many will.

Ah, Japan... wait, what was the topic again? :dunno::rofl:

Waifu and hazubando are the japanese transliterations of the english terms wife and husband.

Because all loanwords in Japanese are written in katakana, and katakana is a syllabary where consonants cannot exist without an attached vowel (with the exception of n), u is appended to all consonants except n. The exceptions to this rule are the consonants d and t, to which an o is attached instead. And since there is no L sound in japanese, it always becomes ra, ri, ru, re or ro.

Therefore, when Japanese people write english words using katakana, wife becomes waifu and husband becomes hazubando or hasubando (depending on whether the person pronounces the s as voiced or voiceless).

The topic? Yeah, um... something about DAW, UA, and psychosis, I think. :bleh:

It took a long time before I realised that 'gyaru' was imported from 'girl' and not some native word made up by JP teenagers.

I completely forgot about the Volt stuff. Honestly, it's even worse than the entry-level Focusrite Scarlett interfaces.

Apollo was/is better than the Volt series, but still ass...

Well, to each is own. Personally after having used the plugs on uad-1, what ones I could get running at a time, they were top notch. Better than anything out there. Especially in regard to how closely they resemble the original hardware that they are supposed to be emulating. As far as the audio industry goes as a whole, most of the natives are the gold standard by which other plugs of the same ilk are measured. I agree with this. What I don't agree with is the all the double sticky red tape one has to endure in order to use them "legit" wise... Even their so called "freebies" are shit in that regard. Hence, unless/until they are cracked I wont touch em...
