It's asking me to authorize my kits all of a sudden, which I can't do.

It is a legitimate copy of version 3.1.2 (latest version), and I can run the legitimate kits just fine, but not the other ones.
It worked fine yesterday, and I've made no changes since

Anybody know what's up and how to roll it back without have to restore my pc to an earlier point, and risk running into the issue again?

    Edit:
For anyone having the same issue, user saccamano suggested downloading and installing a copy of the software not from toontrack, and that fixed it for me. I didnt even have to uninstall the original. He also suggested to not mix and match software from toontrack with other versions of their software, and to block their software and folders from accessing the internet via firewall to avoid it happening again

I'm not on Windows, but here is my take on what happened "somehow". Something happened which allowed your legit purchased software to remain authorized, but not the other stuff. Your "other ones" were probably deauthorized by your purchased software by homecalling. If it checks all your license data, the stuff you did not pay for would get locked by either their plugin, standalone application Ez Drummer, or any official software manager app that they use and is installed on your system.

That could be maybe disabling your firewall with your DAW open, not having a rule set for their applications, changes to your hosts file if you block stuff that way, and probably some other causes. Or you installed an official update. You did mention it working yesterday, but not how long prior to that, and it matters.

I do not think it would be worth "rolling back your pc to prior state". You'd be best off fixing only this issue as it stands. The first part is that you can't let their official software be communicating with their web server via your internet connection. The second portion would probably be to somehow re-authorize any content you did not buy from them. Mixing and matching is how you end up in this boat if you don't do it carefully.

    Thanks for your reply!

Yeah, i figured as much. So what do you reckon would be my best move now? Completely uninstall all of Toontrack's software with something like Revo Uninstaller, and then just use the other ways to install it all all over again from scratch? Or can i keep libraries and stuff on an external harddrive, and just install the main software? Or is there a way too keep everything as i have it now, and just block my pc from communicating with toontracks website and whatever else they've installed on my pc?

A couple of days ago, i did update my legitimate copy of ezdrummer through their website, so you are probably right in assuming that they have something on my pc now that communicates and asks for authorization.

I'm just not sure what the best move is now to get it working again, do you have any ideas?

I'm not sure you have to go as far as removing everything, but some of this stuff is a little more Windows specific than I can really get into. If you do have to remove everything, then Revo is definitely a good choice. I doubt actually splitting the locations like legit on an internal disk, and then everything else on an external would really compartmentalize things that way. Meaning, even if you can get their software to allow for multiple disk locations of the content libraries, that it would prevent their application/plugin from treating them differently when it comes to licenses. Usually not. External disk locations are very easy to setup in their software, you don't even need to create a symbolic link.

Mixing and matching is usually the headache with what you are going to run into. Maybe you could get away with something like switching the locations the plugin/application can see at any one time. But the real solution is to pick one or the other. You can probably guess which would be easier, and they already got their money. Firewalling everything in would be the first step to seeing what you can pull off, including your DAW. With something like your problem, it's frequently their software manager app that does this more specific kind of things.

External hard drives can be cumbersome sometimes unreliable. Assuming you're up to date hardware wise your system storages will be much faster and more reliable.

OFFLINE: First, try installing the latest scene release ezdrummer. Since it's cracked it should run both legit and warez kits side by side. If you're running warezed kits DO NOT EVER UPDATE ANY THING THRU THE INTERNET. Just update with scene released update when they appear. You might get lucky but in all likelihood you'll probably have to reconnect your kits to the client app. Shouldn't be that hard. If you must be connected to the internet with the same machine make certain that all network access to ezdrummer and it's kits are blocked by the firewall.

If that doesn't work you'll have to proceed with your original plan to uninstall all and reinstall. However, if you're planning on running warezed kits I would suggest installing the latest warez release of ezdrummer and as previously mentioned and BLOCK all net access to ezdrummer and kits. Also as before never NEVER update via the OEM website. Stick with the warez released updates ONLY.

Oh no, i meant just keep a copy of the libraries and midi files on an external harddisk and unplug it, then uninstall legitimate copies of ezdrummer with revo, install an illegitimate copy, then plug the external harddisk back in and transfer the files to their respective location with the new not-legitimate copy of ezdrummer. That way i could potentially avoid having to download all the libraries again, but I have no idea if it would work

    Thank you for your reply!

I'll keep in mind not to use legitimate stuff again haha

Im not very tech savy, so i don't really know how to block things from connecting to the internet. But i guess i can google that.
But since im right now in a position where it's asking for the authorization for the illegitimate libraries, is the only option for me to uninstall everything, and then install warezed?

This totally worked! All my kits and midis are working, at least for the time being. Thank you so much, you saved my day.
Now ill try to take your other advice and block toontrack from communicating with my pc, and never update or buy things through their website. Thank you again!
