Wow, that file-manager is a great new feature which makes it a lot easier to select presets. Thanks!

    Amaaaaazing!

    few notes:
    - removing an added folder crashes ableton 12, win11
    - it would be nice if we could remove the documents and download folders
    - it would be great to have the option to load patches on browsing with keyb arrow keys instead of a mouse click
    - could we get a make new user bank in the browser with drag&drop?
    - how come loading a single patch takes longer than a whole bank?
    - how about subfolders? maybe people have different folders and just want to load the root and have the browser lay that out, similar to the TUS system

Thanks so much for your work. This thing is shaping up nicely

Yeah, that's sucks. The fix is on its way.
"how come loading a single patch takes longer than a whole bank?"
Both inject directly to memory, but with the "write single program", you have to do some tweaking first to make it write to INT RAM.
"could we get a make new user bank in the browser with drag&drop?"
Most DAWs have issues with drag-and-drop, so I'd skip that.
"how about subfolders? maybe people have different folders and just want to load the root and have the browser lay that out, similar to the TUS system" and "it would be nice if we could remove the documents and download folders" and "it would be great to have the option to load patches on browsing with keyb arrow keys instead of a mouse click"
    Maybe we'll check these out.

Thanks for all the new features, this is a super fun and inspiring instrument.

I noticed that this new version v1.0.0 does not load the .sysx files that were working in v0.9.9 yesterday.
The import button has obviously changed to the Preset/File Manager button and now the warning about Midi Cntrl does not pop up. I do have the parameter set to sysx on, but the file browser says "Invalid or empty .SYX" when I try to load anything.
I managed to find a collection of about 5000 patches and under v0.9.9 they were working as expected. Is there another setting I am missing?
I am on a Mac Studio 15.7.4 in Logic.
    Thank you again.

"There's no need to switch the SYS-EX in menu from now on as it's always enabled at boot." You should NOT switch sys-ex from menu.
There's no need to load anything via the SD-1 menu. Fire up the the "preset/file manager", browse your folders, select the syx file and import the bank with "Import full bank" or import single program with "Write single program". We have tested the plugin with tons of syx files. There are a few corrupted SYX dumps, but even the SD-1 hardware wouldn't accept them.
If you say it doesn't load any SYX files, then there must be something wrong on your end.

Still crashes Reaper on Linux too. Not a big deal once you know which kind of directory you have to add.

Would be nice when you can rename an added folder. So you can "see" what the contents of a folder is, for example "Drums".

    still happening over here unfo

i just mean within the browser, not from ableton/windows. there's loads of banks out there. i've been going through them all and making new banks out of the patches i like. i've been using midiquest to do this, but to be able to make a new bank in the browser and then drag patches from the currently loaded bank into the new bank would be such a great time saver. that way you can make say, a basses, pads, efx bank and then as you go through the pre existing original SD/VFX banks, you just drag the ones you like into the new ones and now you're rocking because you don't have to load banks full of patches you'll never use. all good if this is too much trouble. i got a MQ setup working fine, but this would be an endgame situ.

Thank you! This thing rocks

Did anyone have success yet using the new Preset/File Manager in version 1.0.0 for storing onw creations?

If so could you please post the steps how to do that?

I am just trying to save a renamed and edited preset and no matter how hard I try, there is no success, it stays the old version. Also following the original manual did not bring me any further in that case.

Preset or Program? They're different terms in Ensoniq world: "A Preset is a combination of three Programs and an effects set-up which can be
instantly recalled for use in performance. Presets are handy "performance memories" which allow you to create and save sound combinations, splits, layers, patch select variations, etc."
IMO Presets are pretty useless because, for one thing, they don't have names, and they don't save the programs they're associated with either, just internal ram slot numbers.

If you mean Programs, then read https://www.polynominal.com/ensoniq-sd1/ensoniq-sd1-manual.pdf page 136 (you have to use MIDI controller for writing a preset: "To save the program, press the appropriate Bank button, and while holding it down, press the soft button which corresponds to the program you wish to write over. This writes the new program, with its new name, into that memory location.") Once you written the program into internal RAM or cartridge, you can export the program to syx file with the file manager.

Thanks for the reply. I am talking about editing and saving programs into the internal RAM. Sorry for confusing the terms presets and programs.

A simple example of my problem referring to page 136 of the manual.

I just want to rename and save program 1 ("Dynamic-GND") in Bank Int on location 0

The program is selected (dotted underlined)

I hit the write button and enter the desired new name. So far so good.

Whats next? (I dont have a midicontroller attached) Hitting "Exit" on the "write"-page just brings me back to the screen of the first 6 programs in Bank INT0 with the programs name still dsiplayed in its unedited form.

How can I save the renamed program in its current location or somewhere else? The steps in the manual do not bring me any further at this point.

Sorry, I am not a newby to softsynths, but this is leaving me clueless.... "Unfortunaltely" this things sounds so great, otherwise I would have abandoned it already ;-)

    What am I doing wrong?

sorry, but as I stated earlier I was talking about programs and NOT presets. So your answer does not bring me any further. I know these parts of the original- manual. And I cant press 2 buttons with ONE computer-mouse at the same time. So if someone just could post a short tutorial how to solve my issue in the SOFTWARE I would really be thankful :)

Hello @John Shantz, I hope we can finally make some progress with the saving process now:

    1. Via the "SAVE PRESET" Macro Button (Directly within the Plugin)
In recent plugin updates (version 0.9.9 and later), the developers have incorporated a dedicated "SAVE PRESET" button directly into the GUI. If you have modified a sound, you can use this button to save the preset directly via the plugin interface, without having to navigate tediously through the original Ensoniq menus.
    2026-05-27_185307.jpg

    2. Via Your DAW Project (VST3 State Saving)
The plugin supports the "State Saving" feature of the VST3 interface.
If you edit a sound and simply save your DAW project, the plugin will remember the exact state in which you left it. The next time you open the project, the sound will sound exactly as it did when you saved it—even if you did not explicitly save it as a separate file.
You can also use your DAW's native preset management system for this purpose (e.g., in Cubase, Ableton, Logic, etc., by clicking "Save Preset" at the top of the plugin window frame).
