    What's Under the Hood
DEEP/4 is a painstaking recreation of one of the most powerful multi-effects processors ever built: The Ensoniq DP/4. Every algorithm has been rebuilt at the lowest level from the original 24-bit DSP hardware.

43 algorithms, mathematically verified against the original DSP architecture. No guesswork.

Import presets directly from the original hardware via SysEx — load classic libraries like Don Solaris' Essentials Vol1 and hear them exactly as they were meant to sound.

have you guys tried it? what do you think?

personally I don't mess with dev's (in this case "temecula") that install edge webview garbage on the host machine.

I like his MidiVerb II emu (my favourite MV emu actually) - does give off AI vibes though.

I had to try it when I found out it was a hardware multi effect plugin, but with me being busy and distracted by other projects and such since last month I haven’t had much time to go deep into this effect, I also have the midiverb plugin too

Not sure if it is really HIS emu. As two months earlier this VST by Thement (and its source code) has been posted on Github:

    https://github.com/thement/midiverb_emulator

I find it HIGHLY unlikely that two different devs suddenly managed to reverse engineer the same 40 year old device. Looks like Temecula used Tement's work. (Frankly, 2 weeks ago I already saw yet another Midiverb emu, by yet another dev - same suspiction. Just as DiscoDSP using other people's open source work.)

I absolutely agree the idea of that doesn't sit well with me either, at least it doesn't/can't on macOS....

I only have two reverb units: Lexicon - LexHall and FabFilter - R3. Those two are perfectly sufficient for me.
I've already gotten to know and appreciate them; I don't need any new reverb units.

    Introducing the Temecula DSP DEEP/4

    First Impression https://synthanatomy.com/2026/03/te...fx-processor-emulation-with-all-46-algos.html
I have to admit I haven’t had much contact with the Ensoniq DP/4 so far. I know that the FX is still often found in studios and that it was one of the first deep multi-FX processors. For those who like retro multi-FXs like the DP/4 and don’t have the budget for the original, you get here an emulation for your DAW at a fraction of the price. Temecula DSP Deep/4 is available now for $75. It runs as a VST3, AU, and AAX plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows.

Sorry for a probably noob question: what does that mean? What happens after installation? How can I see or notice?

It means that some parts of the plugin were written in web tech (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and that having WebView installed is a pre-requisite. Every time you add an instance of the plugin in your DAW, a new web browser is started to render the GUI. On Windows, Microsoft's Edge WebView runtime is used for WebView (aka Google Chromium with some changes).

You can check if WebView is installed by checking this directory's contents: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\EdgeWebView\
You can check if WebView is being used by checking processes => msedgewebview2.exe

Temecula's MDV II spawns 6 WebViews worth ~90 MiB of RAM on my system.

This dev outputs way too many plugins for a solo developer, I can't prove anything but something is off about it.

I dunno, he seems to be knowledgeable guy and I saw photos of him analysing the hardware etc. Seems to be just a really hard working guy but dunno. I bought the deep/4 because I wanted those French house phasers and while I don't have experience with the hardware the plug-in does sound good. There's also Dusty Devices Phaser DLL that emulates only the phaser algorithm from the Ensoniq DP/4 (cycle accurately they say) and that sounds very good too. I didn't compare the two yet too closely but they sound very similar.

Wow, never knew this. Thanks! Although I use Wine in Linux, I guess I would see the same things appearing in my Wine environment.

Is there a way to "see" if a program is going to do this before it is already installed?

I compared Temecula's MIDIVERB emulation against the one linked here, same settings, and they sound different.

Your best bet is to read forum posts and scan for angry "web view" comments
