KatFile Increases Download Limit for Free Users

The file-sharing service KatFile recently increased its limits for free users. It appears they are trying to move beyond their niche status.

The creators of KatFile have come up with something new again. After ten years, all free users can now download up to 5 GB per day without paying, instead of the previous 2 GB. The maximum file size for free users has also been increased to 5 GB. It seems they are continuing to tweak the terms and conditions to improve their appeal to the warez scene.

Back in April, the provider improved the compensation for uploaders and extended the storage periods. Even if no one accesses them, uploaded archives now remain on the servers for two years. This reduces the workload for uploaders. Previously, files were automatically deleted after a maximum of three months.

KatFile is tweaking its terms and conditions.

Back in the spring, they lowered the minimum payout amount to $20 and improved the compensation. Management apparently wants to improve their international standing. So far, KatFile has no chance against Rapidgator, Ddownload, or NitroFlare. They have always played a minor role in the German-speaking warez scene. If anything, KatFile is used in warez forums as a backup in case the two industry leaders simultaneously have to delete files after receiving a DMCA takedown notice.

A little background:

KatFile was founded or launched by unknown individuals in 2016. KatFile itself confirms this several times on its own news page and in anniversary posts. The name "KatFile" occasionally leads to confusion with "KAT," the P2P indexer KickassTorrents. However, there is no officially confirmed connection. It's worth noting that KatFile emerged shortly after KickassTorrents shut down in 2016. However, it's unlikely that the fled operator, Artem Vaulin, actually has anything to do with the file-sharing site.

Little is known about the actual operators.Depending on the source, the US, Hong Kong, or other offshore locations are mentioned. The company structure also appears intentionally opaque. It remains to be seen whether all these changes will make KatFile more popular.

In recent months, the file-sharing site has attracted attention primarily through frequent domain changes and a relatively high number of illegal ebook uploads. Otherwise, the provider doesn't play a significant role in the German-speaking community. It remains to be seen whether the compensation structure will remain as it was set in April.

KF is still way better than nitro-suck as a sisite alternate.

 

What about yandex, its all free-full speed?

 

Why? NitroFlare “runs” at a maximum of 20 kb/s without a Premium account.

 

20 Kb/s from NitroFlake would have been overkill, for the early 2000's (!)
More than an ISDN 128k could handle back then!
Unfortunatly it's not early 2000's anymore. GL downloading a 1G file from them, I was there...
