    Retainment.

Theres a huge community of Maschine users and not everyone is going to jump ship to MPC. Most NI users are deeply committed to the NI environment. If you're a Maschine user like me, youre either going to stick with Maschine for as long as its supported, or move to something else entirely. The likelihood that a Maschine user will move to an MPC is significantly less than if they just continue to develop Maschine. And if they want to keep that customer base, that's what they have to do. InMusic manages a shit ton of intellectual properties with plenty of overlap, its just different flavors and that's ok as long as they continue to incentivize retention by continuing development.

Sure hope they handle NI stuff better than they have BFD.

The German company Waldorf also went through insolvency at one point; they truly learned from that experience—they even went on to release new, innovative products! One must also keep a close eye on the competition and make the right decisions.

They've never handled them for BFD. Everything has been at a standstill for several years.

Only a few more acquisitions to go before Bill Gates steps in and takes over the entire music software business

it'll be interesting to see how it will affect Kontakt and other NI stuff going forward with regard to cracks. If /when inmusic puts its software protection stamp on everything "NI" all the kontakt junk from then on will need to be updated or who knows :dunno:

Cool now they can neglect the rest of the lineup and sell TWICE as many sample packs for both Kontakt and the MPC thats no longer an MPC but an underpowered mobile platform DAW heh.

Lots of moving parts (products, departments, and staff of course) there. Hopefully this 'merger' will fare better than Mercedes-Benz's Daimler-Chrysler merger of 1998-2007 (a different industry, but another German-American merger).

Culture matters, beyond even corporate culture.

I wish them (and everyone involved) the very best of luck (and competence - lots of it).

That's an excellent, well synthesized analysis - and here I thought you were an ai agent all this time. Well written too. Thanks.

For those of us that don't speak or read German, I made and am attaching herein a PDF of the translated text.

Have to agree with @Balisani, great article and I definitely think as well that NI has to go back to its roots. Infinite growth is unsustainable but you cant say that to investors and that's the reason they're in this mess to begin with.

@PulseWave are you planning on updating the article with the recent news?

Hopefully, inMusic will realize full potential of Maschine and finance NI into making it a full fledged DAW with a lot of improvements.
I can't understand how NI couldn't succeed by their own with such a great products in portfolio and rich history?

I spoke with one of the inMusic guys, and he mentioned that inMusic specializes in acquiring struggling brands.

These are actually trade secrets, and sharing them could result in the employee receiving a formal warning or being terminated.
Why not, though? Someone has to save them; otherwise, these companies will vanish from the market.
