Hi,
I'm having trouble with a patch I designed...
First of all, sorry if I'm placing this thread in the wrong place.

I'm on Windows 10 (I guess this does not matter at all).
Bitwig v5.1.9
Vital Audio VST v1.5.5

I checked on google to try if I could find any solution but none of the suggested fixes helped.

The thing is that any note higher than A2 does not play any sound (checked the analysis window in Advanced tab of the synth, nothing shown for notes from A#2 on).
The oscillator used has its "note track" button on...

I share the preset, in case anyone can see the mistake in it...

 

No idea, patch works if I pick a different wavetable. Just do that and move on? Not worth the effort.

Serum will sometimes do the same kind of thing, but I don't use Vital.

If notes above A2 are completely silent but lower notes work, and changing the wavetable fixes it, the problem is almost certainly inside the wavetable or how it’s being scanned.

The most likely cause is that part of the wavetable is empty, broken, or effectively silent. Many wavetables don’t have consistent content across all frames. Some have usable sound in early positions and unusable or near-silent data in later ones.

So when you play higher notes, something in the patch is pushing the wavetable into those unusable regions (even slightly). That can happen from:

• WT Position being modulated (even subtly)
• keytracking or macro modulation affecting WT Position
• an inconsistent or badly constructed wavetable

That results in certain note ranges producing no audible output at all.

It’s not a general synth limit. It’s a patch / wavetable content issue.

Quick confirmation: freeze WT Position at a fixed value and test again. If the issue disappears, it’s definitely the wavetable or its modulation path.

 

If you play in the range above A2 and hear nothing, reduce the pitch as shown in the attached image. It's always better not to name a wavetable "init" when importing it; always rename the wavetable beforehand to something like "My Wavetable 001"!

 

The fundamental of your wavetable is pitched high, the only reason you can play it up to A3 is due to the Wave Morph knob engaged in bend mode that adds harmonics. If you make it "none" you will loose one octave and wont hear anything over A2 (unless you are a cat or have a superhuman ability to hear over 20.000 khz). You need to drop your pitch lower to be able to utilize the keyboard range or add lower fundamental (and/or harmonics) in the Wavetable Editor.

My guess is that Vital doesn't play wavetables when the fundamental goes above/below the Nyquist freuency even if the Wave Morph modes add harmonics that are within the hearable range.

Thanks to you all for your answers.

I think (as you were saying) it was related to the bad wavetable design. Having a look at the analyzer in vital it showed the frequency quickly went up and out of the range of the frecuency spectrum analyzer.

After some tests, I got to get it producing hearable sound all over the keyboard.

Trying to add another harmonic made the sound to be different.
So instead, I tried to add a modifier to the wave source of the frame I'm using, I tried several ones until I added the wave warp one, made sure it was selected and then changed the value of the X WARP from 0.000 to 5.606 (value chosen randomly, not on purpose) and it worked.

I guess I'll have to be more careful next time I'm playing with that wavetable editor... hehe

With other words instead of adding one or two extra harmonics below the fundamental you've added like hundred of them But hey if it works it works

 

I'm a noob with wavetables...
When I tried adding them, the sound changed so I have no idea on how to fix it in another way. And top of that, I cannot find a proper user manual anywhere for this synthesizer...
