Consider you want to sample some instruments(They can be whatever you imagine, from analog to pure digital). What's your workflow? Specifically, give us some tips and tricks? What would you do first to stop facing problems further down the line? What sort of batch processing would you use to speed up the process? Any techniques for finding perfect loops of samples faster? Share your points with explanation.
Hopefully it would become a useful resource for everyone who wants to do it.

Set input gain to suitable level, sample, trim, then either chop or loop if needed. Name properly and save.

Once a set is sampled then batch normalize (though this is just a force of habit, not really needed if the input level was fine to begin with)

Then depending on use create a sample instrument map the samples to keys and velocities, create group FX etc., collect and save. Naming is pretty key here too.

Use once and then forget that I ever sampled something, of course.

if I am sampling a hardware synth to specifically make samples, I normally just use Logic Autosampler, but you can use SampleRobot for the same purpose. For a batch processor, just Wavelab, way previously, SoundForge. You can also use Myriad for post sampling batch processing, but not always necessary depending on your results. Name Mangler is a helpful filename utility. Nothing all that complicated.

It can be helpful with either a hardware synth you just got, or one are about to get rid of, and the more obvious portability reasons.

A few years ago, I built a Max4Live device that automated sampling of synths. It recorded the samples, and you could choose if you wanted to sample every note or every nth note, plus you could add different velocities. We used it to create a few sample packs. I did not find it anymore, otherwise I would have uploaded it. But it was not too complicated. It took about one or two days to build.
My take on sampling synths would be to automate it, because it gets really annoying fast. You don't even need to build a Max4Live device. You can just create a MIDI file that will play the different notes, and then slice the file. The bonus of doing it with the Max4Live device was that it also named the samples with velocity, note name, etc. You really did not have to do much manual work other than setting up the sounds.

Sampling real instruments is a pain in the ass. If you want to sample multiple velocity groups and playing styles, round robins, etc. It is exhausting, and you need to have really good musicians, as they need to be very consistent when it comes to playing the notes. We gave up pretty quickly.
