I'm again impressed by another what amounts to signature song in your extensive, over the years audiobiographical catalog. I've witnessed the building upon your strengths as a songwriter in what might now be over a decade of listening to your songs. As usual I read the libretto before hearing your track and was curious of how you would deliver those extended ideas per line, and I think that I actually said aloud "wow" at the unrushed and smartly synchopated delivery of your vocal. I'm also very happy to hear a more upbeat and forward context in your work and wish you well in what seems to be a new chapter in your emotional life...well done!

In this verse I believe that you printed the word enlightening when you sang "surprising". I've done just that tons of times and have needed to edit my own lyrics, sometimes more than once in the same song and hoped nobody would notice, lol.

I have just uploaded a version with the proper vocals in place about 8 minutes too late.
It's still evolving as I listen after a hundred times and swapping words out that don't repeat or fit - The curse lol

Yeah m8, all on the pc these days, not that it matters - Other than I'm much more productive now than I ever was with a room full of gear.
Studio 1 old version, fave synths are usual suspects Osirus, the jp80whatever, proxima and obsession. Can't tell you my vocoder but it's out there lol

Having said that, if I had the cash I'd have a room full of Behringer gear, no doubt ;)

 

Vocoder might help me as my voice doesn't really hold a note. I think I'm gonna give them all a try and see what works for me.

I'm a Londoner but have been in NZ since 99.

For me, using a vocoder is certainly quicker and, dare I say it, more organic than using vocaloid type things - even if it sounds robotic.
As for what vocoder, it's more important what sound you use as carrier. I contemplated using mixcraft when they added a vocoder channel and was delighted to find studio one added a version, except I've never worked out how to do the internal linking lol

When I'm recording myself I tend to push my chest voice instead of using my head voice so I hire this fellow to keep me in line. All he has to say is...Head voice now, use it or lose it. Works like a charm!

I haven't got into the subject much because I just gave up on my voice concentrating on the other things. I have heard talk of head and chest voices having important differences. Thanks for pointing me in that direction.
