Just bought me the new SWAYED, excited that it'd effectively be the closest thing to an SY-77 I could get my hands on at the moment, but I have a bit of a problem.

While it's been sorta said that older, dumped ROMs of the waveform cards are to be compatible with SWAYED, I tried using the Waveblade optimized wavecards (which are split into 6, 1 one of which being the percussion/drum samples) seen here, however SWAYED either doesn't accept that file form factor, or isn't detecting it at all. Honestly doesn't help that the manual for SWAYED doesn't specify the appropriate file formats, let alone if they need to be condensed unlike the Waveblade converted .BIN files I tried using.

I'll provide a screenshot of the folder I had placed the BIN files that SWAYED suggest I place the additional ROMs.

Otherwise, this is a promising softsynth emulation, even with this oddity in my path to being some kind of an SY-77 puritan, lol.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

 

Download the original bins, put them in the Swayed Waveforms folder, now they show up in the "Waveform ROM" page and everywhere where you can choose a sample to use.

I didn't have a problem. But I don't know what other custom Waveblade bins you are using - try with the official Yamaha ones first.

(Note - you're showing the Yamaha Factory content roms, this doesn't show up under "Expansions" because it's not expansion content - instead it shows up as "Preset 77" ("Preset" is Swayed's own version of the sample content).

These are patches - the OP was talking about the ROMS (sample content) - different thing.
It looks like he's sorted now anyway.

 

I put the original sound rom bin from the DBxxxx.com site into the waveform folder but I cannot see them in the app. do we have to rename the bin file or break it up somehow?
anyone know the format Swayed is looking for?
I have a TG77 next to me and I am trying to compare sounds, but the TG samples sound a bit better and more punchy.

 

What does the Waveform ROM page in Swayed say?
You restarted the plugin when you put the bin files into the folder?

I got it working.
I removed the plug ins wave rom files and imported the files the OP has from his link.

you can use the cards in the link, but it seems you must open them with SYS file banks from the cards.

 

What exactly did you do to get these ROM files to work. I got them downloaded but what files do you put in what directory (Windows 11) to get them to work for the Swayed VST? What do you mean by having to open them with SYS file banks?

 

Someone should share these online somewhere, or at least give them to the Waveblade-linked site so the SYX files can be added to those SY77 card downloads like the others, so the data is complete...

For people confused about this, just remember that one set of data is PCM samples, to expand the samples that come with the instrument, and the other data - the sysex files are patches/presets - ie the settings for sounds, that may or may not use the expansion samples in addition to the internal samples and AFM elements. And each data type shows up, and is used, differently in the hardware and in the plugin.
