Hey all! Long time no see :) I've been great, busy with my life doe.

Well I want feedback! Starting a new genre! Called LSD - Loud Synthetic Dance
The idea originated from a great friend of mine: Joe Zay (he makes the Clicksound templates you guys get off audioZ)
We collaborate a lot, and he said we should make a genre out of the songs we make, since they are crazy, loud, and weird sounding EDM.
So I was like, "I'm in." So we made a song to start the promotion of LSD.
I know making a genre is difficult but this is more of a sub-genre I think. Idk GIVE ME FEEDBACK

Sorry, but my safaris ipad do not play...
But, its hard to start a genre because first it must be establish, popular and rotulated and secound the history find who created it(generally a popular one, not the obscure beginner).
My english is not the best, but its semantics right?
The game changers ussualy print their ideas and personality in their works, so first the work and maybe someday a genre

Hmm. Giving your music a category to sort it might give new listeners a hint about what to expect, but what else of a benefit will it add to your music?
A genre usually evolves when a few guys have great ideas, lots of others try to copy them and at some point there's enough of similar music mass to collect them all together under the name of a *genre*.

What are your favourite musicians and bands?
Would you be able to summarize these under one genre and, just by picking any other band's song out of this genre, would listening to it give you the same joy?

When it comes to exceptional music, it's more about names than genres, but yes, if your music intends to hit the mass market, it might help.
"LSD" alone will certainly catch some attention, so why not try...

I'm about 99.5 percent into metal and the remaining 0.5% is "everything else". This track is some psychedelic shit man! (I mean it in a good way). I liked it. I'd add more bass bursts at the start so it sort of prepares us for what's coming.

Again, I'm not an expert in electronic music, but I liked it.

I agree with the other comments about how a new genre is born, but they all start somewhere and most subgenres argue about "who did it first", so now you have this post as proof that hey, maybe it WAS you!

I wonder if there is some sort of diagram somewhere with all these genres and subgenres and how they connect to each other. There is one for metal somewhere, but this one is just a taste:

Almost all electronic club music, almost all trap are worst music ever. But this is something new cool. Sounds cooler, than "trap after brostep" period. For me, Trap is "afterdubstep hip-hop" with electro/trance elements: TRAnce RAP. Do not think so? If it was Skrillex's new track (for example), you would say "Whooaaa, this is fukceeng new hit ever heard! Moarrrr!!!!" No? Still thinking his "Recess LP" sounds better? Recess is real sh-t i've ever heard! There are no music at all.

    Trash Trap
    Aggressive Trap
    Punkstep :D
    Doom Trap

    i dunno))))

Everything is EDM from now on, so there can never be any new genres! If you dont believe me, ask the Americans!

I don't think you'll find a truly comprehensive chart of electronic music since there are hundreds of sub-genres, with more poppin up as we speak.
Personally I think a lot of the genre stuff is a bit silly, often ppl just mix the names of already existing styles or put another word in front of them (like future, post, progressive, nu, etc etc) and pretend it's sth new and spectacular. I mean, country EDM… WTF?

But if you wanna check out the origins of electronic and the development of genres during the first 20 years (the good times [IMG] ) take a look at this great site: Ishkur's Guide To Electronic Music

You get a bunch of sound examples, and the guy's comments about electronic in general and sub-genres in particular are friggin brilliant.
