    So,

I've been wanting to write this thread for quite a while, I just haven't found time till now...

For those who don't know it, MetaSynth (https://uisoftware.com/metasynth/) is a godlike, almighty, powerful spectral playground used by many famous and not so famous artists, from electronic to orchestral. It's a standalone software available exclusively for MacOS and capable of many unique things (you can find out more about it in this video)

A couple months ago I got in touch with a Uisoftware (company that owns and develops MetaSynth) developer to ask for a Windows port. Here's a quick snippet of part of our interaction:

Naturally I was a bit excited by the replies, eventually I found a useful form made by the company: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2MFC26J

That being said, I encourage anyone interested in a Windows port to fill out this form (took me like 1 or 2 minutes)!

If one is willing to fund the project in order to port to Windows....

a windows port would be really cool. The question is, does this potentially make their market cap bigger? So are windows people up to open the pockets to buy it? Or just to wait for something patched?

I am not entirely sure if i would be up to open my pocket.

EDIT: not with the current situation of increasing prices. And im sure Metasynth wont be a cheap buy jugding from the mac prices.

Well... that's exactly what the form is for. That's why I posted it.

Again, that's what the form is for, if you're not interested in funding it you can just answer "no" to that question. The important thing is to let them aware that there's still people interested in it, I'm sure am.

Actually there was no first time that funding was the sole reason for the survey by you so I stated that as others also not interested wouldn't waste the energy in visiting the page. If interest for porting to Windows was the prime concern then I would imagine that to be the first question and not the last. Just sayin'. It is a badly implemented questionair.

After many delays and false starts, the code is in analysis, and a budget and timeline is being set. About another week, then we can start the journey at long last, setup the donation site, and get funding going for the 3rd party developer. A new survey has been drafted: https://www.surveymonkey.com/analyze/nisgNjh9ECaegkIbLHqd16DdvL4FwlWUL_2FkTIpsGlLo_3D

Love to hear your thoughts on how to make a good one. I have no background in writing one, so recommendations are appreciated! I was just asking questions which come to mind to get a sense of what folks are looking for from the app and if the time/cost would even make sense. Now that at long last this dream of being multi platform can happen (JUCE now makes this doable), I did another survey a few weeks ago (https://www.surveymonkey.com/analyze/nisgNjh9ECaegkIbLHqd16DdvL4FwlWUL_2FkTIpsGlLo_3D), but again I kept the funding ideas to the end. Guess my thought was just to see the landscape first, talk money later. Once the 3rd party developer get's us cost/timeline I can do one which focuses on development support.

Yeah. No. It's warez only for me anymore. Generally, from past experience, stuff that is apple-only getting ported to the win platform doesn't impress me much, because the dev figures they can cut corners and make extra ca$h by making a shitty windows port. They figure it would be a ca$h cow by tapping into a user base much larger than apples'. Thx but no thx. If it ends up getting to the scene I'd give it a whirl, but I'm betting the windows version would be less shiny than whatever made it palatable on the apple side.

Oh, really? That's awesome news if true. Is there a way to take the survey without having to log in? I think it would make it much more accessible. I'm really hoping this gets accomplished, it would be big for everyone, company and user.

i use it since day one - and v-track - and eric is cool guy who stands by his mission.

but if you want this stuff (which is all about graphics except metasynth) for windows, you have no idea how fast it runs on an apple-arm. :)
(they gave up apple-intel very early, and you can be sure there are technical reasons why they do not support nvidia & co)

Had this waaaaay back on pre OSX operating systems. Never dug deep in it and I got bored of it quickly because everything had that same sort of, limited raw waveform tone/noise sound, if that's a proper description of what I'm trying to say, which I didn't care for at all. A lot of simple bell type tones and the like.
What would be nice, and if it does do that now, idk, but skimming the vid I didn't hear it, would be if you could take the individual lines of the spectra created for example and apply a vst instrument sound to it.
