Hivetune releases Relica 2 free software synthesizer - Apr 8, 2026

Hivetune has announced an update to its Relica subtractive synthesizer crafted to recreate the sounds of the 8-bit era.

From NES-style leads to the percussions of classic handhelds, Relica 2 puts the golden age of gaming audio right into your DAW.

Relica 2 features

• Choose between the four classic oscillator shapes: Square, Sawtooth, Triangle, and Sine.
• Inject grit and digital artifacts using the built-in Bitcrusher, fine-tuned by hand for every oscillator shape.
• Toggle between Antialiasing modes: keep it enabled for a polished sound, or disable it to embrace the raw, aliased grit of original retro hardware.
• Change the timbre of your sound with Pulse Width modulation. Unlike most synthesizers, you can change it for all oscilators!
• Use the Preset Browser to try the 30+ factory presets and to save and load your own custom patches.
• Add organic movement with the Vibrato engine, featuring adjustable rates, depths, and multiple LFO shapes.
• Create iconic melodies with the BPM-synced Arpeggiator, transforming chords into the sequences that defined the golden age of gaming.
• A dedicated Noise module allows you to add White, Pink, and Periodic noise to your sound to add imperfections.
• Use the Monophonic mode and Slide (Portamento) control to create smooth transitions between your notes.
• Shape your sound’s envelope with the Dynamics (ADSR) section to create anything from plucks to atmospheric pads.
• The interface is built for ease of use, keeping every parameter on a single screen to ensure a fluid and intuitive creative process.

Overview
Just a Sample is a powerful, modern audio sampler, with a focus on simplicity and ease of use. Best of all, it's free and open-source! I spent a lot of time on this project, and I think it will be a great addition to your plugin collection.

Feel free to take a look at the source code and reach out with any questions or suggestions. I took care to make the code as clean and readable as possible, with a focus on good design practices. That being said, I am still new to audio programming.

• Smoothly zoom in to the level of individual samples to set bounds as accurately as you need. Waveform drawing is optimized for large samples.
• Integrated Bungee time stretcher allows for freely modulating time and pitch independently. Try extreme slow-downs (0.01x) for unique sounds.
• Modern navigation controls allow for easy browsing of waveforms with touchpad or mouse.
• A routable FX chain includes reverb, chorus, distortion, and EQ for easy sound design.
• Waveform Mode activates when small bounds are set, looping the waveform periodically like a wavetable synth. This turns Just a Sample into a unique tone generator.

Retro Radio by Stone Voices is a Virtual Effect Audio Plugin for macOS and Windows.
It functions as a VST Plugin, an Audio Units Plugin and a VST 3 Plugin.

With the free Retro Radio VST plug-in, you can simulate the sound of old AM radios with all the nuances, including noise, crackle, rattle, and Morse code inherent in this type of radio reception. As well as amplitude-frequency distortions and parasitic modulations. It is possible to emulate the acoustics of various models, from stationary to pocket radios.

The plug–in's design is stylized like a tube radio receiver, where the so-called "magic eye" is used as a level indicator - an imitation of the 6E5C cathodoluminescent lamp, which was widely used in various radios in the good old days.
