I started off wanting to remake Frontier Psychiatrist (The Avalanches), because it is a really fun song made up entirely of other people’s samples (ok they added a kick and a sub bass, but that’s it).

i used the same samples The Avalanches used, and then went off on a wild tangent finding different samples, adding my own taste of insanity.

i haven’t done any mastering, other than a bit of compression and EQ on the master track.

All done in Ableton with nothing but samples and a sub bass.

Great job. Could totally hear that on the radio or see it on whatever the modern equivalent of mtv is these days.

Avalanches Frontier Psychiatrist is such an awesome classic.
Love your version, to me the dialog samples are a little loud, making the beat feel not as loud as it should feel IMHO.

 

I haven't spent much time mastering, I did this for fun and I really did have a fun time making it. I agree, some of the samples probably do need some adjustment (EQ, gain, compression, reverb). I'll polish this at some point
