I want to switch from Radio Silence to Lulu on Mac, in order to have more control than RS allows. For example, I want to be able to control which plugins are blocked/allowed rather than blocking the entire DAW.

I use HCiSO’s Ableton releases and am wondering if anyone can speak to whether or not it’s ok to allow cracked Ableton access to the internet.

sorry if this question is stupid. Having a lot of anxiety before making the switch to Lulu.

I would make this move in a second and not even worry about it. You should not allow Ableton to access the internet because every plugin you load into it will be able to leak data. If you need to let Ableton out for some reason, open it with no session loaded that can call any plugins, turn it off, do whatever you need to do, and then turn it back on.

Lulu is awesome, for free; but Little Snitch give the user a lot more control, and networking monitoring. Radio Silence is ok, but more of an add-on once you have either LS or Lulu setup. You can use Radio Silence for quickly testing something and blocking it, without having to add a ton of useless firewall rules to your main firewall. You really don't need it once you setup LS or Lulu.

Yeah, I mostly use Radio Silence (in addition to Lulu right now) as a secondary backstop, but is also handy for quickly unblocking then reblocking things like Roland Cloud and UAD stuff for updates (as especially since Roland Cloud phones home once a second or so and f that...)...
