Maybe it's not "we are the hollow men, we are…" for everyone, but to me, as a conveniently negligible fragment of all of us end-consumers of this so-called collective reality, it's getting harder and harder to miss the moment we're in. A moment where, we're told, global warming isn't just a concern anymore but an urgent, existential crisis, where by 2030 it’s not optional but mandatory to convert every last polluting car into a clean, virtuous electric one, where the magickal AI bubble casually gulps down obscene amounts of electricity, memory, water… where, in the name of progress and global betterment, we keep torching oil and gas (fields) like there's no tomorrow, while simultaneously assuring ourselves there absolutely is one, just slightly greener, where... and somehow, right in the middle of all that, "Headpieces filled with straw — ALAS!" Maybe that's the point. "The absurd is the essential concept and the first truth." Maybe there isn't a piece of graffiti out there that could compress this whole spectacle into something readable, something that could sketch the trajectory of this unstoppable, self-congratulatory march forward we all, as end-consumers, are already neatly packaged inside of.
