you seem to see things quite distorted, I mean, not every shared copy is a 100% customer; I tried some of the shared libs in here and I must say I stayed with the ones I already bought, and I assure that if I spot something great you have my money ...we could argue all day and I get the frustration, but in here most of them are hobbits, like me, not one cent from music, but here am I, I bought like 10 libs till now, they where shared already here, but I don't mind, I like what I'm doing and I support whichever way I can ... you did not loose much, that is for sure.

He's acting like the recent downloads of his libs by the people who primarily ONLY download cracked plugins, were all RIGHT on the edge of buying all his shit.

    Someone’s triggered!
FYI Loading one EQ band at a time on a pro machine is still one band at a time, buddy.

Of course i don't know the full story, only what I have heard from the developers, but from what I have heard, they spend a lot of time on these releases. Weeks or months. Cleaning, optimizing the samples, and programming Nebulas behavior. Tim P, Alex, and Cupwise have all recently raised the bar of what Nebula is capable of in the last few months through experimentation and pushing the engine to its limits. That doesnt happen from a passive, quick sample and release approach.

Agree its logic that doesnt really make sense. I understand his frustration and empathize with getting your work distributed for free, but the assumption that sales are down because of cracks is a stretch. I told him as much in an email, hopefully he will listen and think about things from the perspective of a user of his products.

Did he ever really complain when it was just one here, one there? Probably not. But it has been a deluge of this stuff being released recently.

You see this a lot on sister site, where someone releases one plugin or whatever; and people start commenting with "Thanks! (and let me sneak a request in here because we expect!!! every single plugin from this company now). It's rude enough to the releaser, never mind the guy seeing his whole catalog show up all at one time.

It is so tiresome but quite amusing when you mirror commenter's own sideways digs back at them and they can't take it. It's way too easy to get them to respond to themselves.

For as much as Nebula costs to even begin to use these libraries in the first place makes me not sad whatsoever about this post. It's also dumb to hold back good products if you're as good as Tim P or AITB like why try to sway people to stop cracking your libraries. The crazy thing is that piracy within these spaces is literally for access to your products not to take away from your sales. Cracking isn't the problem, the real problem is that you chose such a niche plugin to start designing libraries for that only a handful of people actually own Nebula or use it still in the first place. This is soo damn stupid, reminds me of how the guy from AP Mastering reacted when Team R2R handed his ass to him on a platter lol Come on man, people will support you either way if the products are worth it. PERIOD!

Agreed for the most part. The only thing i have to add is that the third party dev's are not responsible for the price of Nebula, and that Nebula used to cost significantly less. But yah, I agree he shouldn't hold back his products. If its not worth it for you to continue, fine, so be it. But don't punish (for lack of better word) your actual supporters by withholding the releases. I mean, shit, your screwing over yourself at that point lol. If you already have the shit done, and you don't release it, you're just keeping money out of your own pocket.

lmao. classic. I've never really understood the argument that nebula only has one band. For one, that's not even necessarily true. Some libraries have hi, lo, and mid in one program. Secondly, how many bands do you need?! Nebula EQ is an overall tone shaping thing, not some digital, corrective thing. A majority of the time all I need is one band, maybe two here and there.

Simple : because the first Nebula profiles were ONE band at a time
You needed to load 3 instances to cover a simple 3 bands EQ.

This is the never-ending VST piracy debate.

Libraries and plugins are priced way too high for most musicians and producers. Many simply can’t afford $149–$299 for a compressor, limiter or synth.

The only realistic way to live from developing VSTs these days is usually to be based in a low-cost-of-living + low-tax country (Thailand, Vietnam, Portugal, Georgia, etc.). Set your price around $39–$59 → people actually buy. Keep it at $149–$249 in high-tax regions → piracy becomes the default for huge parts of the world.

Look at Cherry Audio: great-sounding synths at $39–$49. They sell very well. Most independent devs who make a real living are either in low-cost countries or have accepted very modest Western incomes.

If you can’t lower your prices enough and still eat, the problem is probably geography + taxes more than “people don’t value your work”. A lot of successful small plugin companies already figured that out and moved.

I don't know about anybody else, but I can't think of an instance that I bought a piece of audio software without first auditioning it from that other site, most often than not much longer than the demo from the developer would allow. That includes my DAW and everything that I use on a daily basis and which is part of my workflow. Without the sister site and the extended audition model developers wouldn't have been in my perview and would not have been supported. I do receive mail from a slew of developers but that is not my primary source of information, these pages are and I am grateful for every person and post that participates and have been since 2011. This is a fantastic educational forum and an international gem which is unique and a treasure.

The specific motto of the warez groups is the biggest hypocrisy; one could also say, "If you want to support the developers, then don't crack this software."

I'm all for supporting the small guys, but I don't get the moralising comments.

Guy #1 makes infinite copies of a company's commercial product and asks you for money or he'll throw a fit and quit => honest business man, moral high ground.

Guy #2 makes infinite copies of a company's commercial product, doesn't ask you for money, asks you to support the company instead => fair game if they get locked up, tough luck, lorl.

How's AlexB's business different from cassette repro shops in the 80s?
