Variety of Sound has released EpicVerb mkII, an algorithmic reverb that does stuff from short ambiences to long halls, so an all-purpose reverb.



My short take: it sounds great but the UI is a bit fiddly unlike most recent VoS releases. And it does have presets, very well hidden away. Click the "three bars" hamburger button in the output section. It gives a better idea of what this thing is capable of.

It does sound great! I do wish the UI would get a slight update, but I'm pretty OK with it already after some time spent with it. This is the kind of thing I wish had a guitar pedal version, 'cause it sounds very good on spacey clean guitar kind of thing.

I'm sure they've been mentioned already but other VoS reverbs are well worth the time: epicPLATE mkII and epicCLOUDS

Variety of Sound is one of those devs that constantly delivers and I just can't believe it's free. I could crank out a decent mix with only their plugins.

Depending on the type of the audio file used in a niceslice it could benefit from having a randomise button for the pattern numbers, just a though tho.

 

i cant believe im actually having a tough choice of installing this or just not touching it at all , because i really liked firebird and it was used a lot in old projects.

Tone2 announced FireBird 2 Synthesizer is now available for free download on their website.

FireBird was developed in the year 2005 and has reached the end of the product lifecycle.
Because FireBird does not longer meet our quality standards and has many compatibility problems we do not longer advertize it on our website.

We replaced it with Warlock, a drastically better and more powerful synthesizer.
All existing FireBird patches and soundsets have been ported to it and sound a lot better now.

Please note:
- FireBird is two decades old and really outdated
- It is not available for Mac
- FireBird is 32bit PC only (VST 2.3). It is not a 64bit plugin and does not work with modern DAWs. You will require a bit-bridge to run it.
- It was designed for Windows XP 32bit. The interface is not 100% compatible with Windows 7,8,10,11.

Standalone software modular, I think the first of its kind. From the late 90's STOMPER era. I couldn't believe this when it came out. I am 95% sure this can be hotwired into the DAW with MIDI and audio loop solutions, though I've yet to try. It's got the selections for it. It goes up to 44.1k. It's not junk.
