Hi,i want to add a reference track at top of project( yes,i know about reference track plugins)
do i ned to use audiowarp to get it to play back perfectly at the tempo of my track? musical mode yes changes the tempo, but it dosent align to bars, even if it starts exactly at bar 1.
    thanks

If you're trying to study the arrangement, then warp it and add markers.

If you're using it as a mix reference, don't process it at all. Time-stretching or warping changes the audio.

All stretch algorithms introduce artifacts such as transient smearing, phase shifts, or high-frequency changes. Even if the difference is small, the tonal balance and punch are no longer identical to the original master.

A reference track should stay completely unprocessed. The goal is to compare tonal balance, not timing or bar alignment.

So the correct approach is to import the track, disable any warp or time-stretch features, and level match it.

What you're asking about is basically automatic tempo detection and bar alignment. Some DAWs (Logic) can analyze the track and map it to the grid when you import it. It is useful if you're studying the arrangement or doing a remix, but it isn’t needed for reference mixing.
