You mean adding gasoline to the burning of a human effigy?

How about we make a list of his sexual improprieties as well?
Maybe that time in high school he forgot to pay me back 5 dollars?

Try and keep the hearsay and defamation to a dull roar. No need to put this man's life on trial here, FFS

Like Acustica Audio behavior being "new", whereas it was like this since day one.
    Like DiscoDSP.
Like Tone2, who closed their KVR forum because they got caught using "administrative shutdown" ... even when a legit user moved his licence from the folder.

    And on and on ...

It is not a matter of "burning a man", it is just showing HOW this behavior was there for years, even decades, and still there.
And will probably be there till the end.

When ppl put their trust in someone, they need to know WHO is it.
If you don't want PUBLIC exposition of your BUSINESS behavior ... stop your business.

We didn't speak about his PRIVATE life, only PUBLIC and BUSINESS behavior.

I don't get how there are fanboys of a commercial company and go and defend them to the bones.
While on the other hand the usual suspects to gods work and want nothing in return.
Why defend somone who's just ripping them off and betrays the costumer by being like they made the plugin (and could support it).
And btw: Now we're all fucked. Does anyone think Roland is now just sitting on their hands doing nothing?
Now the have to react. Now their intellectual property is used in a commercial for profit product.
And good luck defending "roms not included" in court.
Roland will have a field day proving the plugin has no value without stealing the roms, and that the legit owners of the synths are in no way able to read out a rom just like that.
On a long run, this could even have consequences for TUS.
A court could say donation accepting is commercial as well and they could end up being a collateral damage.
Without discodsp all would have stayed under the radar.
    So he is a cunt!
(And yeah, maybe gpl3 wasn't den best license to choose, but then again, I do not know anything about gnu/mit or any other license. I used to think whoever uses open source and it's licenses does have to open source his own project).

He said it himself on FB. Wasn't hearsay, as you created. Now you're on the ignore list.

Repeating this while providing no source and zero context (let alone a multitude of perspectives) for what actually transpired during that incident, substantiated by "I think, I'd have to look it up" is approximately an example of hearsay.

And due to that lack of source, context, and cumulative testimony, it serves nothing but to make people doubt the man's character more so. Go ahead and educate yourself on the basic tenets of western ethical jurisprudence.

EDIT: thnx 4 the hot body chick tho

@Plendix, I don't think anything will happen at all; neither a court nor Roland will care.

All I'm going to say is, since downloading the TUS virus and jp8080, I've written several songs that, deep down inside, I know I would never would have without them. A real virus and JP in my pc running as vsti's in my daw - Shows that even in the most shittiest of times, there's still someone doing the right thing for the right reasons in this right messed up world.

    Thank you so much, legends.

Well, well, now I know you are a rational man, all your replies to my post is perfectly right in theory, no doubt.

Yes, DiscoDSP has rights to copy the open source code distributed under the GNU v3, what they do is under the comercial rules, users have rights to not user their plugins. All you say is right.

But is it really good? What they did is really good to the open source environment? So in your opinion, selfish business behavior is understandable, and open source developers must dedicate themself without complaint or regret. How can open source spirits continue?

Good that you brought this up, @kiyata. I'm also a big fan of open source; I'm even in favor of license removals (Microsoft, for example) worldwide, so that everyone can participate in technological progress and not just those who can afford expensive license fees. Luckily, there are hackers who restore a balance. I would be in favor of the government supporting projects and musicians with taxpayer money anyway. But since that doesn't happen, only Team R2R and others remain...!

Yes, you're right, maybe others will speak out against discoDSP and say, "That's not right," but it's free, so his fundraising appeal is the only option, which is a bit of a legal gray area, because open source doesn't mean you should enrich yourself, even indirectly or through tricks.

I don't know how his company is doing, but experience shows that when companies run out of money, they come up with adventurous ideas to save them.

At least he took the risk and made DX7 available to the masses, even if the ROM is illegal!
Perhaps his goal was simply to make some extra money, but that's speculation, and I don't want to accuse him of anything.

DSPdisco dude kicked my dog, keyed my car and burned my house down. The Interpol detectives are onto him and the bad man is on the run. Anybody who enables his behavior by buying tech support for repurposed open source software will be held as an accomplice and will also be charged. If anyone has seen this man please use the anonymous link below before he strikes again. There is a €5,000,000 reward if your information leads to his capture.

Yeah, the guy's a dick and has been for decades and probably always will be till he drops dead. That being said.....is this really that different from what's going on with NAM? DamyFx, (also a dick), and several others have released free NAM loaders. I don't seem to recall anyone pitching a bitch over that. But...IDK....maybe this is different somehow?

It's funny to see that "DiscoDSP" is living in your head for free. He's probably watching this thread
and laughing his head off at how you're wasting your time on him.

Wrong. "I'm above y'all" attempt fail. Insert new coin.

This thread is for us. And about some of the most important and interesting dilemmas in free/open source software, legit/non-legit/fair use of it. Having a VIP fellow who obviously has feelings involved in a prime example of these themes.

    Pricing and Availability:
    - Retromulator is available to use with no feature restrictions and no commercial use limitations, distributed under the GNU General Public License v3. - Purchasing a license supports ongoing development and entitles you to priority technical support.

Note: Retromulator requires the original ROM firmware from your own hardware to operate each synthesizer.
