But, please nobody misunderstand my comment as taking sides, I am just offering a correction. Hearsay can run wild and it's never good when that happens.

Of course what he's doing is dishonorable, but...
...ask the company “ACCESS” what they think of your emulator.
Christoph Kemper probably thought to himself, we've put so much time and effort into development, and now someone comes along, repackages it and offers it for download.

Oh yes, I love your emulators. :)

It is quite likely they've heard from Mr. Kemper directly, and although I appreciate what you are saying, I wouldn't presume to know what he thinks of it.

Also very important to note is that each of these units have ceased production, in some cases for a very long time. That offers at least some nuance to the matter.

Nonetheless, there is indeed an interesting ethical question here - one which I am sure has been discussed within FOSS & GNU circles extensively for decades. Not to mention the warez scene, where honour (*cough* among thieves *cough*) is a crucial tenet...

They have. In fact the first thing they did was to reach out to the companies of the products they are emulating, to let them know what they are doing, see if the company wants to do some kind of collaboration and work together etc. And many of the companies, even if they declined to go into partnership for various reasons, are watching the team to make sure they aren't encouraging piracy and are staying on the legal side of things.

From what I recall, Kemper was not exactly keen about them doing it, but did not expressly ask them to stop. However, should TUS have gone commercial and tried to make money from these emulators, that changes the stakes somewhat and it's very likely companies have much stronger grounds to go after them and shut them down. This is a big reason why they don't monetise commercially from their work.

most of them had beef with him, and he does not see them as a team, he sees them as his employees.

i can also make a website where i claim that the japanese emperor is my wife, but that does not make the story true.

He got kicked from an international synth show, Germany I think, I'd have to look it up. Flew all the way over to promote something, got kicked out. Just adding data to the convo.

Do you have any proof? This is completely fabricated. What you're doing here is simply bashing and defamation.

You should grant me exactly what you demand: freedom of speech! If you post something here in a forum, you should also be prepared to participate in the discussion, because that's the whole point of a forum.

Most people think it is a bad idea for them because of the lack of editing anyway. But there are a decent enough amount of plugins which are literally just preset players. Maybe the best way to say what you think about him doing it is to just make your own. At least it would work.

I can confirm that he was kicked out of Superbooth in 2019. As far as I remember, he entered as a regular visitor but then started aggressively promoting his iOS port of OB-XD. He covered all this "drama" in a very childish way on Facebook back in the day, but I’m almost sure he deleted all those posts.

Thanks for your recollections, I appreciate it.

However, I should point out that without evidence, all of this is very flimsy. One should also forgive others for their mistakes and not constantly hold them against them. Anyone can write anonymously on the internet and claim anything. As you know, stalking, bullying, etc., are not trivial offenses but crimes. Put yourself in his shoes—how would you want to be treated?

Statements were made here by discoDSP boss George Reales, who was described as stupid.
Do we have to put up with this kind of thing? No! I want to point out that the internet is not a lawless space:

In my country, someone is presumed innocent in court until proven otherwise. This is called the presumption of innocence.

    Section 186 - Defamation
Whoever asserts or disseminates a fact about another person that is likely to make that person contemptible or to lower their standing in public opinion shall be punished, unless that fact is demonstrably true, with imprisonment for up to one year or with a fine, and, if the act is committed publicly or by disseminating writings (Section 11, Paragraph 3), with imprisonment for up to two years or with a fine.

    Section 187 - Slander
Whoever, knowing better, asserts or disseminates an untrue fact about another person that is likely to make that person contemptible or to lower their standing in public opinion or to endanger their credit shall be punished with imprisonment for up to two years or with a fine.
