    https://www.reddit.com/r/PiratedGam...se_patcher_no_need_to_turn_off_your_security/

I am not into games, but there is a lot of drama going on Reddit regarding Denuvo. Some cracker was able to find a way to fool Denuvo, by modifying something called Hypervisor.

Hypervisor - An intermediary layer between the physical hardware and the OS. Hypervisor works at ring -1 level, that is at a even higher privilege than the Kernel.

To put in another words, that Denuvo has no way to figure out that it is being fooled, because the crack is working at way deeper than it can reach. So, all the encryption/decryption, protection is of no use, because the crack is providing the fake fundamental data on which all these things are based, like the Hardware IDs and stuff. It's kind of same thing our beloved R2R has been doing by emulating system DLLs to fake answers to calls made by plugins, but taken to a crazy high level.

I hope @Kate Middleton takes over the palace soon and then becomes Prime Minister, because with your slogan and motto, "Everything should be free," you're appealing to 99% of the voting population.

Breathable air is free until the rich fucks pollute it to the point that we have to pay for clean air or machines to clean the air. We're getting there.

The funniest thing about DRM is that gamers themselves didn't put up with a much lighter version of iLok (the precursor of Denuvo, SecuROM), but people in the audio community bend over to really intrusive DRM that run at all times on your PC, including always-online bullshit...

It's complicated. Denuvo deserves a slow and painful death. Not because we need more cracked games. When I download a Denuvo game fully cracked 3 weeks after release, I don't have to deal with it. But because protection that goes that fcking deep into system architecture prevents legit buyers from running a game on Linux.

We've long been there actually, in much of the developed, or industrialized parts of the world.

Do you drive a car or Uber everywhere? The air filters you've paid, or are paying for (baked in the price of the car, cost of maintenance or replacing filters, all passed on to the end user/consumer). The same goes for buses, trains, passenger ships, and airplanes. All those costs are baked in the price of the ticket.

When I'm not driving a car, I ride a motorbike: need a mask to keep out the pollution - I'm paying for air.

Do you work in an office building, or office complex? Not so much in European city offices, but in the US and most of Africa, Asia/Pacific - basically anywhere and everywhere there's AC: you pay for clean air, aka air filtering. You might think: I'm not paying, I'm getting paid! But the reality of it, is your employer pays the rent, pays the electricity, and deducts all those costs from your salary. You're paying for clean air, alright - and your desk, your chair, the cleaning staff, supplies, etc.

Same thing with restaurants, shopping malls, cinemas and theaters, even hospitals and schools: you're paying for clean air, or circulation thereof at the very least - all baked into the price of the tickets, service, or goods. In the case of public schools: your parents' taxes pay.

We've all long been paying for water - something the planet provides for free to all animals worldwide; something our ancestors (my grandparents even) enjoyed for free - did you really think you wouldn't also be paying for air?

Last but not least, not to single out any group here (just speaking from experience), but during my first work visit of many to Istanbul, I realized most Turks spend more time breathing through cigarettes than not, so generally speaking, smokers pay too (extra, actually), to breathe air - whatever fairy tale narrative they might be telling themselves about the 'benefits' or "pleasure" of smoking.

Bottom line: we're all paying through the nose - literally, and figuratively - just to be alive in this world.

Even if this method works (which remains to be seen) :
    • It does not crack Denuvo itself.
    • It bypasses Windows protections to run tools that bypass Denuvo.
    • It may stop working after Windows updates.
So it’s more like a temporary workaround, certainly not the “death of Denuvo”.

Bro, have you never been to a watering hole?
Water isn't free - ask the jaguar.

The planet does not "provide". The planet simply IS.
"something the planet provides for free to all animals worldwide" (?)
    Worldwide...as opposed to galaxy-wide?
Well, water is not given free to SOME, apparently, as every year millions of animals die from drought.

Water has been a life or death thing forever, for most animals, and many fight over access and control.
And life has never been free - Who gave you that idea?

If you hate nature, and humans as part of nature, just come out and say it.
No need to invent a fantasy reality and then say humans ruined it.

Hypervisor is a tremendous security risk. You launch a cracked game - and your OS has absolutely no control over what happens next. It can steal your stuff if the cracker is malicious, or it can encrypt it for ransom, or it can damage the hardware if the cracker is simply bad or didn't think about your configuration. This "patch" that removes the need to manually turn off UEFI security features simply automates the process, but doesn't remove the requirement to turn the security off. Do not install hypervisor cracks.

A hypervisor is not exclusive to Windows, but it is definitely a major component used by Windows.

a guy called voice38 has cracked the 2024 version of Denuvo like a week ago (the proper way) and has said that he's working on 2025, he has been continuously cracking every version of Denuvo, so with voices progressing and the hypervisor method improving over time as well, game piracy is already in a much much better place than it was just 6 months ago. fuck denuvo

I saw some vids and articles. It's very interesting, the OP @Thotu wrote a good brief summary.
At its present state, like @justwannadownload said, it's too dangerous. It'll be interesting to see how this type of hypercracks (pun megaintended all right lol) develop over time.

Well done and fuck denuovo! I hope that is true ... they should drop down initial prices of 'AAA' games... never should exceed $39'ish grand-max on release. Nobody will bother to crack that stupid shit

Fitgirl, who is most likely the n.1 game repacker all around has recently wrote in her website: "As for me – you won’t see any HV-cracks repacks from me until you won’t need actually disable security features. If it ever happens at all. No game worth potential irrecoverable damage you can do to your PC."

Is there any information about this? The reddit thread is not much in the way of information, but I presume it has to be a type 1 HV to bypass OS-level controls properly. Sure, if you run this on a dedicated machine then maybe, but otherwise this is insanity. If it's a guest VM then this might be somehow secure but those have performance and other implications (like hardware passthrough).

    But really, needs more information.
