Here's how you can recover deleted files via the file history.
If you don't perform backups, hopefully you have File History Backup enabled. If you're using Windows* 10, click the Start button, go to Settings > Update & Security > Backup > Add a drive, and then select an external drive or network location for your backups.

Here's how to restore an important file or folder:
    1. In the search box on the taskbar, type "File History" and then select "Restores files using File History".
    2. Search for the desired file and use the arrows to view all its versions.
    3. Once you've located the version in question, select the file and click Restore to save it to its original location. To save it to a different location, press and hold Restore (or right-click), select Restore to, and then choose a new location.
    No backups?
If you do not have backup files and your file is not in the Recycle Bin, you can use one of the many recovery programs that are available, either free or paid, for example Piriform Recuva * or Stellar Data Recover *.

Another option is Disk Drill *, a recovery tool originally developed for Mac*, which is now also available for Windows. It offers assistance with partition loss, hard drive reformatting, boot errors, accidental deletion, etc.

I have successfully used the free version of Ashampoo's WinOptimizer.

First thing : stop creating files or launching applications
Because deleted blocs can be reallocated.

-Download Windows File Recovery from the Microsoft Store.

-Open the app (it will open a Command Prompt window).

    -Use the following command structure:
    winfr source-drive: destination-drive: /regular

    Example: winfr C: D: /regular /n \Users\<YourName>\Documents\

Note: You must save the recovered files to a different drive (like a USB stick) to avoid overwriting the deleted data.

PS : here is a free GUI for it (easier) :

Hmm… whenever I recovered deleted files, they were corrupted but had adequate capacity.

Shutdown PC, do not install anything or write to Harddisk. (Therefore shutdown, even the page file from Windows could overwrite it). Get a Windows PE tools collection. There is one from heise, I used a Korean one that was quite useful, Google 'nhv winfows pe', it's even on archive.org. another one is from strelec, a Russian guy, I used that one long before that war started, so.. do with that information whatever you want Google 'strelec Windows pe'.
But get those on another computer!!
Now 'burn' those isos to a stick with Rufus or balinea etcher.
Boot from that stick, usually you get into the boot menu with F12, some HPs use F2 or esc. Google what your machine/Mainboard uses to get to boot menu.
And after boot you find a lot of data recovery stuff in that environment. Try several of those and write the recoveries to an external drive. Again: you don't want to write to that recovery drive until you got your files back.
