go to registry editor and this directory : Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Image-Line\Registrations and change the FL Studio license plate value to what you want.

 

I changed the License Plate already:


But then I changed the option to show name instead and the result:


I guess that is because, in the "About" windows it shows "registered to:" as blank.

Yep. They leave a user ID visible in the program for registered users, if you don't have the UID they'll know your software is cracked and can take down your stuff or start legal actions.

 

Wouldn't you have to ask them for tech support for them to even see that panel? How else would that happen?

 

If you are an offline user who just does stuff it's no big deal. But Youtubers and Producers who make stories and videos on socials with the screen of their DAW, will get in trouble if the UID is missing, or they are not in their registered users database. Happened to a good number of producers, you can search it in Youtube. Also FL Studio is SUPER invasive in terms of licenses.

Recently i got the Fruity Edition. Installed it in a Virtual Machine just to test some things out without deleting my cracked version.
After a few hours they messaged me telling me i installed the product in a machine that had cracked software and that in the future that may or may not cause my license to be revoked. It was a Windows 10 VM with 0 other software, so that shit detected my install THROUGH Virtual Machine Workstation. That's nuts.

 

Wait, so you're talking audio watermarking then? How would anyone know from a final mix file that there was no uid in the app that created it?

Most tubers that "demo" stuff like this are either using a trial version of whatever, or they are sponsored by the dev in some way and using a full version.

As far as your detection scenario goes - it's just another testimonial for keeping to cracked releases and blocking/removing internet connections from machines that run sw that is potentially allowed to phone home.

No, not audio watermark. There's a specific corner on the FL GUI which includes the ID. Said ID has to coincide with whatever ID they have of you on their database. If you're caught with a pirated copy or valid ID that doesn't coincide with your personal information, they are entitled to take down your videos or claim monetization. Gets worse if you are a DJ or Producer who already has tracks released.

 

It's not like loading a Linux VM and having to bring up an interface like eth0 or enpXsY, or wlan0 if you are using an Alfa adapter in Kali.

This is actually not anything much more than "detecting" it on a normal OS. When you create the VM, VMware sets up a virtual network adapter. The VM shares your host’s internet connection. You don’t have to do anything in Windows 10, it's pretty much automatically done for you.
So if your FL Studio will normally call home unless firewalled, it will do the same thing. If you have setup rules in your host file to block Imageline website, the VM will ignore them and connect anyway.

This is basically the same as letting it call home on a non-VM setup.

 

Oh, sorry guys, now I realized that not only I wasn't clear enough but I also wrote the whole sentence wrong :p

I wasn't being honest really, in fact it's a friend of my girlfriend who has a parrot, and this parrot is thinking about starting a production channel on Youtube, so he's worried that Image Line can discover he doesn't own FL Studio and take legal actions towards his channel... Piracy is wrong I said to him, but the poor parrot can not afford to buy the license atm cause of his currency... sad story... what would you guys advice him?

Hehe, nice plot line there You could have the parrot sidle up to the dev and promise promotional considerations for allowing you to run the full legit version of their software A lot of tubers (err, parrots) do this and it makes life a bit easier for them. Although the downside is you are then beholding to the dev when they demand you do something a certain way or promote something they want promoted - it's a double edged sword...
