any music (bands, soundtracks) in Steampunk style worth listening?

I also checked sister site and steampunk stuff is mostly VSTis/banks of clockwork/steam clicking/whooshing ASMR stuff, maybe some retrofuturistic brass pipes at most...

Maybe i misunderstood, and maybe this isn't exactly what you're looking for.. Or maybe you already know them? Anyway, on glitchmachines.com there are samples and vst that could be useful to you..

I have no idea if this qualifies as Steampunk music, but the game Bioshock Infinite was about as Steampunk as it gets

about 15 years ago there was a japanese guy who published dozens of "steampunk music" tracks on youtube, i always thought that is a nice idea, actually the first useful and reasoned genre invention ever, and he really hit it with the sounds he used and all. some day they vanished and i have never seen them again anywhere.

I think that The Dear Hunter may be what you're seeking.

That is like a massive flashback.

It is possible Gentle Giant also leaned towards Steampunk before it became huge. "Cogs in Cogs" springs to mind. After all, cogs are a huge part of steampunk.

IMO, there’s not really such a thing. The whole imagery comes from the Victorian age, so maybe something from that era, honestly (which I know you’re not looking for) :bleh:

It’s kind of when people are looking for ”cyberpunk music”, which doesn’t really exist either. Like, ”Blade Runner” has those CS-80 tones, but also some Chorus Rhodes ballads. Also, these days people would probably be looking for synthwave, dubstep or those Zimmer ”braaaap” dystopian tones instead.

Back in the 90’s, Steampunk was really popular, especially in computer games. In the UK there was this legendary developer called The Bitmap Brothers, who specialized in this style. But even their games had the music of that day: techno, drum’n’bass.

    Like ”The Chaos Engine” (1993)

these are being spammed pretty much everywhere lately:

    upload_2026-3-1_15-31-29.png

this belongs to my only personal opinion:

    -style: krautrock / steampunk
    -class: hype/spam
    -longevity: ephemeral/volatile
-prediction: if asked next year, it is like they never happened

ps: i always thought the guitarist was a girl, but they are two guys... and how they can breathe is another question
