    Woah a second everyone!!!

Since when do we live in a society were someone is vilified for saying something about a beloved product, even if it is as misguided as a building a house with a slab of butter?

It's still a personal view that we are all entitled to.

    Hold on, @Sylenth.Will.Fall!

If someone is spreading lies, other forum members should also have the opportunity to tell the truth.

No, humanity always strives for truth and what is right. Disinformation should be exposed and clarified.
We want and should always strive to get closer to the truth.

At home, you can spout any nonsense you like, but in public, on television, radio, and in forums, you have to accept counter-arguments and other opinions.

They're very good, among the best for sure but I never really gelled with them for some reason. I prefer Equilibrium even though it has much less nifty features than the newest Pro-Q, if I need dynamic eq with sidechain for example then I use Toneboosters Equalizer 4 in addition to Equilibrium. I think they sound very good but not better than what is already out there, among the best like I said. Now who needed to hear this, probably nobody but I wrote it anyway lol

exactly what I meant, it's amusing people expect EQs sound different when they should be same :chilling:

I can't feel mad about your take when I'm not the one missing out on all the great features packed in FF plugins.

Plugins are like DAWs; there are plenty of good ones (and really bad ones too [Hello AI generated stuff]).

The best one (in the good ones list) is the one you feel comfortable working with.

The rest is just pointless squabbling.

as soon as I read that Pro-Q was the least liked plugin from OP post, I made a mental note the thread is probably just content farming. It should almost be in the humor section. Even to mention UAD is a tipoff. They do not make an EQ of the Pro-Q (and all its clones) variety.

But if you do actually want a "Fabfilter Pro-Q lite version", this is where I use Sonnox Claro. It is light, transparent, and has a nice fast workflow.

Yeah see I love Ableton, but I can't stand using any of the stock plugins, and that's a resounding I've literally replaced every one that probably does the job perfectly well, with something else.

Partly because only using stock plugins would hamper my plugin collecting hobby, (which tbh takes up more of my precious time than actually making music these days) but partly also just because I think they 'look' fucking dull. Kind of akin to producing on an excel spreadsheet, might make your accountant's mouth water but it doesn't do it for me.

And that leads me nicely into the next topic, the 'look' of the plugin is as important as the sound for me, even though noone hearing it is going to even know what your plugins look like, I think it does colour the judgement using a plain, boring looking but amazing sounding plugin probably would be replaced for me by using a great looking, good sounding one.

I've learned that there are some great software programmers and great graphic designers out there.
I rarely see both components working together in such a way as to result in a usable GUI for the user.

I've seen synthesizers with great, interchangeable GUIs, but the synthesizer's sound was underwhelming. I've seen GUIs that were too dark, and I sometimes wonder what conditions the manufacturers work under and what kind of monitor they use. How can it be so bad?

With SugarBytes' Thesys, I took matters into my own hands and brightened the bitmap using Resource Hacker. With the Omnisphere Trilian, the color choice led me to never play it; however, I find the Omnisphere's blue to be a success—tough luck for those who don't like blue. The company "Togu Audio Line with the TAL mod" has done it right: scalable, and you can customize the colors yourself.

Yes for sure, I think Fabfilter have got a good middle ground between good sound and a good GUI, possibly why they're so popular.
Soundtoys do both well also, possibly a less adventurous interface but, arguably some of them sound better than the Fabfilter equivalent to me.

Still, I think if someone pointed me towards an amazing sounding yet ugly plugin, I'd probably give it a swerve

"Yes, it nulls, but XYZ EQ sounds way better, sexier, than XYZ EQ. I suppose that a hobby centered on working with sound should be about dedication to sound itself. Still, graphics matter to me as well. Cross-modal perception, or something along those lines. When I see those digitally luscious EQ nodes on my monitor, I feel like licking them. Sometimes I actually do, and then I have to wipe the screen. It is not good when the user interface is too seductive. When it becomes too seductive, I begin to hear divine sounds from the speakers, sounds that may not even exist. But if I hear them, then of course they exist. So yes, I need my equalizer to be surgically precise, attractive, and sexy, but not excessively so, and of course simple to use. I do not like complicated things; they give me a headache. Especially if I have previously been licking the monitor and listening to sounds that, if I heard them, obviously exist, even though mathematics would disagree."

I agree that it is good for a plugin to be physically attractive, but not sexually arousing, that can cause all sorts of confusion but would make for an excellent episode of Jerry Springer

"Help, I keep attempting to make love to my favourite delay plugin, the wife wants a divorce"

True. If the interface is too seductive every bell boost looks like a boob, and my transient gets expanded.

Certainly everything should be up for debate, but someone should pay for making me cry.
