Tried this a while back after seeing a few producers I like use it (and knowing the hardware version’s long history in Industrial) and really liked what I got out of it using it on stuff like feedback or noisy synth pads- especially for creating harsh soundscapes/ambience with some texture and movement. I’d like to grab it but I’m trying to pause on buying plugins for a while. Curious if anyone who has tried it has anything similar they like for that kind of thing (bonus if it’s on the sister site & Mac friendly).

Yep- that's what I've tried... I really dig it, but it's on the pricier side, so trying to see if there's other options folks like

This is the perfect moment to grab a demo of the eventide, make some patches in it, and then trying to understand how they work and then replicating them with stock plugins. It's delays, pitch shifters and some modulation. Nothing outerwordly. Especially if you use Bitwig or Live/FL, it's fairly easy to rack-up a stock emulation (Logic, Cubase, not trivial - maybe use a patcher like Kushview Element). It won't be perfect cloning, but it will offer the opportunity to have your own unique set of sounds.

Even with the H3000 mkII you still have to add some external saturation to get even close to the delicious grunge of the hardware. Saturation in the flavor of digital heat. Something like the InPhonik RX950 Classic AD/DA Converter of the sister site or even the InPhonik PCM2612 Retro Decimator Unit. The big difference between the H3K mk 1 and mk 2 is the DA output modeling but even with the changes it is still too clean and to hifi sounding to me. The hardware is clunky, heavy and angry. The plugin is still too polite. But better than nothing.

It's in the Mac release called Eventide Signature Effects for intel Mac, and Eventide All Plugin bundle if you need ARM.

I picked up the H3000 (there are 2 of them), the H3000 Factory Mk II, and the H3000 Band Delays Mk II.... (and granted, I agree with some of the comments above regarding their need perhaps for some saturation or whatnot if you are looking for a little of the grungier edge perhaps as I've owned the hardware and used it a lot over decades...),

but I got them a Black Friday or 2 ago for ~$30 for the first, and $19 for the second on sale, so they really aren't ~that~expensive.

They run sales a couple times a year (and it helps picking up their freebies as, like Soundtoys, they will chip away at prices on things later)...
