Hello,

I installed the latest Korg M1 AU (2.4.1) and Korg Wavestation (2.4.2). I also installed Korg Software Pass (1.2.17).

Everything works. For 2 days. And then I get an error in Ableton Live 12.3 (and Logic Pro) saying that the AU v2 is not compatible with Live. Failed to initialize.

I tried downgrading with different versions, but they all act the same way; they work for 2 days and then they give the same error.

I am on a Mac Studio M4. I have the same issue on my Macbook Air M4.

Does anyone know what to do and how to fix this?

 

The same for the VST version by the way.

 

I think you have to make sure that your Mac's network interface is not randomizing MAC addresses.

On newer macOS versions (Ventura, Sonoma, Sequoia):

1. Open System Settings
   
   
2. Go to Network
   
   
3. Click Wi‑Fi
   
   
4. Click Details next to the connected network
   
   
5. Turn off Private Wi‑Fi Address
   

That forces macOS to use the hardware MAC instead of a randomized one.

After you turn it off:

• The router will see your real MAC
• You’ll likely get a different local IP one more time
• After that, DHCP should stay consistent
• You can now create a DHCP reservation in your router if you want a fixed IP

Important:

This only affects Wi‑Fi. Ethernet does not randomize MAC addresses.

Also, I’m going to say this directly — disable this only on networks you trust (your home studio, for example). On public Wi‑Fi, MAC randomization is a good privacy feature and you should leave it on.

If your goal is stable networking for your DAW machine, disabling it on your home network makes sense.

If that is not the issue, then you have to give more info. What firewall are you using, what version of MacOS, how do you have these firewalled, how did you install them via Software Pass or other, what Team versions are you using R2R or other? etc.

Hopefully, it is just your Mac address getting randomized, but only because it is a little less work to fix.

 

Thanks for your reply. I will check this when I am home (hopefully tomorrow). The weird thing is that all of the other neer Korg plugins keep working. Like OP Six, Wavestate, Triton and Prophecy. Except the M1 and Wavestate.

 

MAC address is likely not the cause then, but you can easily check anyway. The version of Software Pass you mention using is not up to date. The newest version of R2R Software Pass and keygen is 1.3.9. Mixing and matching releases can cause issues like this too. There's something you did differently between the ones you are getting errors from and the ones that are still working ok.

 

I am testing on my Macbook Air M4 where I have installed the M1 and the Wavestation (not the other plugins) and where I only use AU. I manually deleted the M1 and Wavestation plugin an. After that Ableton keeps showing the plugin. I have never witnessed this.

Anyway, I downloaded the Korg M1 2.4.1 and the Software Pass 1.3.9 and installed them. I used a Windows machine to generate a keygen (Korg Collection 4, this is the only option, there is no option to generate a key for M1 only). I switched internet off on my macbook and entered the serial. Now the M1 is working again. I will check in 2 days if it is still working. Thanks for the input so far!

 

When I just generated a serial on the keygen on my Windows machine, I realized I always did it for Korg Collection 5. Could that be the mistake? Now I did one for Korg Collection 4 and 5. Maybe this is the trick. I will update!

We did major installer update since the last Collection 5.
You should uninstall all previous installation before the Collection 6.

 

I have had this problem with wavestation vst in Ableton too, this same warning.

I closed Ableton, opened the standalone version to see if the problem was there too, and it opened ok. Back to Ableton and then it opened ok.

Maybe this issue is related to the long loading time/validation check of these plugins? Do not know yet, still testing.

Like I said, today, before I deleted both and uninstalled both plugins, I installed Korg M1 2.4.1 (the latest) and Korg Wavestation 2.4.2 (latest). Software Pass 1.3.9 (latest) installed. Then I generated keys via the keygen on a Windows machine for Korg Collection 4, 5 and 6.

Both plugins are working now. But usually after 2 days of working I get the notification 'the AU v2 is not compatible with Live. Failed to initialize'.

Hopefully it is working now, but if not, what am I missing here?

I don't have standalone versions. And the other plugins I have on my Mac Studio system (Wavestate, Modypoly and the rest) are working without problems. Only M1 and Wavestation stop working after 2 days after installation..
