Many products are getting worse instead of better; the only solution is to stop all updates and save the working versions.
After PreSonus Studio 7, there's nothing new. PreSonus 7 was the pinnacle, the pinnacle!

But you didn't, a post earlier said you hope they lose sales. Totally unnecessary, it is fine to not like something. Wishing ill in people is a bad thing no matter who they are.

It was a very dark grey or minimal bluish-dark grey screen (Studio One version 4), depending on version, that scanned the same and logged in It just looked a little different, and if you are a pro expert you would not be saying half of the things you have been in so many posts and you can change the colors which no surprise, you said nothing. So answer the question are you using a purchased version? If you are a pro expert tell everyone about how the new features suck too and exactly what sucks. If you are a pro you'll have the purchased version. If you are a pro Studio One user who doesn't, the Pro's I have worked alongside with for decades would have said something like: "I have not tried the retail version but I do not like...and is it the same in the full retail version?"
Nobody begrudges your right to free speech, but anyone who knows the product well isn't going to allow inaccurate information which has been said more than once. It is called disinformation.
I reinstalled both to defaults without my changed color and config settings - I did save them for after though, to so I do not have to reconfigure.

UMMM - they're actually the same size too. So both are "big ugly screens" if that is the negative path you continue to take Middleton. You did say it had a big ugly blue screen and hoped they lose lots of sales even if the post is not on this page. I am not the only one who saw it.
Identical startup menu also with one exception - Studio One now = Studio Pro
    Clearly visible in the screenshots.

    - Studio One 7 set back to defaults

Studio Pro set to defaults. - Ugliness is a perspective beauty has always been in the eye of the beholder and if semantics are necessary with colors, it is a blue and black gradient, or blue and very dark grey gradient.

Look it is not my main DAW and I do not disagree with you that there should have been more thought.
If you look at every product lately, there seem to be way too many that are more interested in getting it out there than ensuring everything is working perfectly, or getting user feedback before a final release. The latter rarely happens anymore. Public BETA testing is more likely in a game than an app.

Keep in mind that if Cubase, or Imageline FL Studio were taken over by someone else, it is likely they will change something. How much? Who knows? - or now Reason is taken over by LANDR, I guess we won't know for sure until Reason 14.

I think Cubase got worse on optimization and old bug fixes after Yamaha took over. Right now they´re suffering with their audio engine, since it´s old and hard to optimize for newer architecture.. But I´m pretty sure they are already rewriting the engine for future, but changing legacy code isn´t easy task to keep backward compability..

At least Yamaha had the decency to allow Steinberg & Cubase to continue to exist. Granted it needs work, but it did anyway. I, for one, am glad they did away with Syncrosoft. That is a BIG plus in my book. Even Gibson, (and Roland previously), didn't have narcissistic hubris to slap their brand names on and change the name of Cakewalk itself AND force users to switch to Gibson or Roland user accounts to continue using their DAW of choice. More than anything else, the way that Fender, (ServeCo Pacific), has handled this transition is, to me anyway, insulting. And I am FAR from alone. There is huge amount of backlash on many forums, (including their own), to this arrogant behavior. And the amount of backlash towards Fender makes me wonder if the 8.01 update was released so quickly because they actually care about longtime loyal users OR.....is it just a frantic attempt at damage control. Fender was in charge all during V7 and the update cycle they PROMISED never materialized. So we'll see if they keep up the current pace. Somehow I doubt it.

I´m not quitting with Cubase, even if I differ for their choices on development and "innovations".. Still works on my computer and that´s all I need with the acknowledge of the program..
But it´s still sad that everything goes by the money, there´s not much for inventing or research..

On the side note, when old folks come back, some serious things can happen as seen here

The best thing to do is stop giving big companies more money. Maybe after a significant drop in profits, they'll ask why. Perhaps then they'll ask people who actually use the technology or real experts. As long as the money keeps flowing, as they say, nothing will change. They'll probably just cut personnel costs with AI!

That´s really not an option, since there are still people behind the code, they need to make their living.. AI won´t replace human interaction and innovation, too complicate for computers to think outside of the box

One is wishful thinking, and the other is reality.

I'll stick with my purchased Studio One 7; I've been with them since version 2, and they won't get another penny from me. If I don't do my job properly and cut corners, I'll most likely lose my job. The high personnel costs will most likely be replaced by cheaper AI, not completely, but they'll do what they can.

Personnel costs are always the most expensive thing in a company, which is why they're starting to outsource a lot of software work, call centers, etc., to India. Got it? Save costs...reduce personnel costs to maintain or undercut the competition's prices.

People complained much more than this when they changed the name to FL Studio. In 2 more versions, nobody will care.

When Sony bought up Sonic Foundry, they wrecked Acid by v4. By v5 it was so much bloat, many users got rid of it. They kept selling it for another 10 versions or something.
