Yeah, theme was made with legit b9.

Strange thing here is that theme editor doesn't even recognize exported .bte file, tried other 3rd party .json ones, nothing... :dunno:

Think I found the solution, only way to get the theme working is to change the name of the theme to theme.bte and place it in User/.bitwig-theme-editor/versions/6.0 Beta 11/, directory is hidden tho.

You can also manually manage the theme after patching Bitwig Studio:

    • Step 1: Run Bitwig Studio
    • Step 2: A file named default.bte will be created in the Bitwig settings directory
      • Windows: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\.bitwig-theme-editor\<version>\
      • Linux & macOS: /home/<username>/.bitwig-theme-editor/<version>/
    • Step 3: Create a file named theme.bte in the same directory if doesn't exists
    • Step 4: Add the lines of the color values you want to change, modify, and save
    • Step 4: Click on the "Dashboard Button" or resize the window to render changes

Hope you like it, I can edit some things further, just let me know. :mates:

Noticed that audio waveform is light grey when you open it in dedicated editor, guess it makes sense to be light grey on dark by default, but it loses the appeal when everything is lighter, so yeah, I could fix that.

Also, to get the same color of arranger, change Timeline Background to 100 in Dashboard/Settings/User Interface/Contrast.

Edit: version with updated color for audio waveform

I'm pretty certain it's actually my ancient UC-33e's using the DrivenByMoss controller scripts, which work fine in v5.2 but just moving a fader or pot crashes Bitwig v6 betas to desktop.. Maybe I should bite the bullet, open 'em up and give 'em a good clean as they do throw out some rogue MIDI data, or wait for the controller script to update from Bitwig v5.3

ahhhh, i use the drivenbymoss for the Maschine Mikro. I love it. Sometimes it doesn't recognize the controller, but usually unplugging and back in fixes my maschine issue. Damn that sucks man.

Thanks for your empathy, man... I'm desperately hoping it either gets fixed by Bitwig or an updated DrivenByMoss script will let me use my beloved UC-33's with the ace new features in v6.

CHANGES IN BITWIG STUDIO 6.0 – BETA 13
    Released 30 January 2026

    NEW FEATURES

    Global Automation Behavior

    * The Global Automation Behavior (previously called Global Automation Lock) now toggles between Follow (the default) and Lock states:
    * The behavior is the same as before (with lock Off or On), just presented more clearly with a descriptive icon for each state.

    Automation Lane Behavior

    * Each automation lane now has three states for what to do When parent is edited:
    * Always follow - Note/audio/global time edits are applied to this lane.
    * This new option keeps lanes connected to track/global edits in all cases.
    * New MIDI automation lanes default to this value.
    * Use editor setting - Trusts the global setting (shown in the transport area).
    * Previous v6 projects that had local Automation Lock disabled will use this setting.
    * Never follow - Protect this lane from note/audio/global time edits.
    * Previous v6 projects that had local Automation Lock enabled will use this setting.
    * Icons are displayed on any lane header that is set to Always follow (⏴⏵) or Never follow

    Selection Previews

    * Selection previews have also been improved:
    * When automation lanes are shown, automation lanes selected via a note/audio/global time selection are highlighted as well.
    * When a note/audio clip is selected, the bottom right edge of the clip shows a badge with:
    * The number of automation lanes (on the Arranger), or
    * The number of automation clips (in the Launcher) that are also selected.
    * The number is shown brightly when Global Automation Behavior is set to Follow, and more dim when set to Lock.
    * These badges are always shown when clips are selected, including when automation lanes are folded away, and in the Mixer view.

    Automation Clips: Free Time

    * Automation clips now have a Free Time toggle, for cases where their internal timing differs from their parent note/audio clips:
    * When enabled, edits of a parent note/audio clip’s loop parameters, etc., will not affect the automation clip.
    * The little running man icon is shown on the top right of the automation clip header (and within the loop control bar in the header of the Detail Editor Panel in Clip context).
    * When disabled (the default), inherited clip Inspector parameters are shown but appear dim, including:
    * Looping enable, Start time, and Length
    * Clip Offset (for Arranger clips)
    * Clip Start and Stop times (for Launcher clips)
    * This toggle will automatically be turned on in certain cases, such as:
    * Editing one of these parameters so they don’t match the parent note/audio clip anymore.
    * Dragging either a note/audio clip or an automation clip to a place where it doesn’t match its new partner.
    * Recording automation in a different looping pattern.
    * Selecting a looping Arranger clip with track automation beneath, and using the Wrap Related Automation as Clips function (which creates a full-length clip without changing the playing automation).
    * To create automation clips that mask the content with the parent’s looping window, you can [ALT]-click any track automation lane to Create Automation Clip (or [SHIFT]-[ALT]-click to Create Automation Clips in All Lanes).
    * For pre-v6 projects, automation lanes within note/audio clips that had Free Run enabled will enable Free Time.

    Controllers

    * Controller script added for A&H Xone:K3
    * Controller script added for Akai MPK Mini IV

    IMPROVEMENTS

    * The Arranger’s Create Automation Clip function (by [ALT]-clicking where there is track automation with a note/audio clip on the track level) now masks any track automation and sets the same looping region for the new clip, even if it changes the automation shape.
    * The [SHIFT]-[ALT]-click option to Create Automation Clips in All Lanes works the same.
    * Alternatively, Wrap Related Automation as Clips [CTRL]-[G] ([CMD]-[G] on macOS) ignores any note/audio looping region and preserves the automation curve by making one long clip.
    * Using Consolidate on a time selection on the Arranger sets better, musically-relevant times in all cases.
    * Hovering or dragging a Velocity value now shows a tooltip in the Note Expression Lane [V] (of the Detail Editor Panel), and when modifier-dragging a note to Adjust Velocity [38640].
    * In the Note Expression Lane [V], hovering or dragging a Chance or Release Velocity value now shows a tooltip [38617].
    * Polysynth (Synth) device: Expanded Device View now has a Filter Frequency / Filter Resonance XY control (F).
    * Device chain names have been made more consistent:
    * Instruments with a Note chain have been renamed Note FX, where space allows.
    * Audio FX with Pre, Post chains have been renamed Pre FX, Post FX.

    FIXES

    Time & Context

    * The time context menu (such as when right-clicking on the Arranger background) now includes Cut, Copy, Paste, etc. again [39766].
    * When appropriate, Paste as Alias and Duplicate as Alias are shown in separate lines just below.

    Detail Editor Panel

    * Application no longer freezes when trying to open Detail Editor Panel for specific, generous note clips [40709].
    * Paste notes from one clip to another now works, even at the clip start position [39975].
    * Select All on filtered layered editor selects on all layers but should only select on the target layer [39478].
    * Repeats Operator: Velocity ramps on notes are visualized again (a regression) [40718].
    * Detail Editor Panel no longer jumps when selecting a Pitch expression point and using the arrow up and down keys [39957].
    * Split action is available in Clip context [40738].
    * Split action is now working correctly in Track context [40737].
    * Vertical zooming of the Piano Roll Editor can go tighter now [40719].
    * Pitch expression points are now created again on the initial click (a regression) [40720].
    * When pasting notes, the inserted notes are now selected [40797].
    * Automation Lane area doesn’t obsessively revert to track volume anymore [40311].
    * In the Drum/Hybrid Editor, event edge editing has higher priority than time-selection resizing (the same as the Piano Roll Editor).
    * Note preview buttons in the Drum/Hybrid Editor (the speaker buttons) now work more consistently [40391].
    * Zoom In Vertically and Zoom Out Vertically are no longer reversed in the Detail Editor Panel [40183].
    * Each Detail Editor Panel (in different views or in multi-screen display profiles) can have its own lane height [40742].
    * In Track context, creating a note outside of existing clip boundaries now previews properly [40722].
    * It’s now possible to make edits before time zero within automation clips.
    * Pasting a time selection of automation in Track context now uses the appropriate time (instead of time zero) [40790].
    * Clicking in an Arranger automation lane no longer causes the Detail Editor Panel (in Track context) to twitch [39173].
    * Editing automation in Arranger now repaints it in the Detail Editor Panel as well (when visible) [40644].
    * Changing a clip’s time signature now updates the Detail Editor Panel grid [40684].
    * Instrument note clip names are now shown on lane headers when editing multiple clips [40687].

    Automation

    * Automation state is accurately played back in all cases (such as when starting playback between automation points) [40460].
    * Tempo automation is being followed correctly [40676].
    * Adding an automation lane via the Arranger (+) no longer creates the first point with Hold enabled [40670].
    * Using Remove Time on an Arranger timeline selection now removes all automation, regardless of the Global Automation Behavior setting and lane states [40658].
    * When deleting Arranger time, automation was sometimes ignored when it shouldn’t have been [40744].
    * Clip automation in negative time is now respected [39898].
    * Automation launcher clips should only have their own play start position applied to them.
    * Editing note/audio clip length in the Inspector Panel now changes connected automation clips as well [40390].
    * When selecting automation points across multiple lanes, Inspector Panel properties are still available [39073].
    * Split on a Time selection of an automation clip now auto-selects the resulting clip [40715].

    Devices & Tools

    * Steps (Sequence) modulator: Using the Trigger Mode of Note Random with a Timebase of Hold (rate of zero) works again (a regression) [40783].
    * Phase-4 (Synth) device: Expanded Device View’s Filter Frequency / Filter Resonance XY control (F) no longer goes off screen.
    * Sampler (Synth) device: Envelope Mode parameter no longer truncates, at some scalings.
    * For audio tracks, the same height threshold is now used in the Launcher and Arranger for flipping waveform from mono to stereo [40721].
    * The Time Selection, Eraser, and Knife tools now auto-scroll correctly on the Arranger in all cases [40679].
    * Creating an Arranger cue marker by double-clicking in the ruler area now goes directly into the "rename" state [40442].
    * Double Content action no longer reverts to a clip’s name, color, and time signature [40656].
    * Using Eraser tool on Arranger clips now previews correctly [40678].
    * Arranger loop length (in transport display) now gets updated when changing the global time signature [40647].
    * When dragging note/audio clips from Launcher to Arranger, their length governs the new Arranger clips (not any included automation clips) [40685].
    * The Pointer tool supports Time Selection option now works on group tracks as well [39636].
    * Renaming an Arranger cue marker via the Inspector Panel no longer adds an undo step. For. Each. Character. [40673].

    GUI

    * Ring-Mod (Audio FX) device: Now dims the Oscillator Frequency setting when an external signal is being used.
    * Muted audio clips dim their waveform on the Arranger again (a regression) [40660].
    * In Mix view, clip headers redraw immediately when (un)muted [40669].
    * Renaming or changing color of an Arranger cue marker in the Inspector Panel now updates the visualization in the ruler immediately [40674].
    * In the Piano Roll Editor, switching the Show Audio in Background source now updates the background immediately [40785].
    * Track selection is now shown accurately when a track gets deselected, within a closed track group [40784].

Changes in Bitwig Studio 6.0, Beta 14 [released 16 February 2026]

    Improvements
    • Automation write on the Arranger now creates undo steps for each parameter changed (instead of one undo operation from the moment the transport starts playing) [40765]
    • Group tracks: The project navigation menu has been improved:
      • Whenever a group track is preset in a project, this menu appears in the top-left of the Arranger Timeline Panel and any Mixer Panel (again).
      • This provides a way to navigate thru out the hierarchy of the project, focusing at any group level.
      • The icon and name of the current level are always shown on screen now in the same menu space, shifting other icons to the right when necessary.
    • Echo (Note FX) device got some general improvements and new features:
      • Now has a Transposition Feedback Behavior setting, for selecting how Pitch transposition is handled when it reaches the Min/Max edges:
        • Cycle (the default and original behavior) jumps back to the original note when it would pass either edge.
        • Reflect folds back toward the original note when it would pass either edge.
      • Now has an Inspector Panel options to Kill on Transport Stop (off by default) , to automatically end all notes and echoes whenever the global transport is stopped.
      • Got a lite GUI refresh, including a longer history scope with better low-velocity sensitivity.
    • Channel Filter, Channel Map, Echo, Latch, Micro-pitch, Note Delay, Note Length, Note Receiver, and Velocity Curve (Note FX): Each have device remotes now (for use with connected hardware controllers, etc.)
    • Bend, Note Filter, Quantize, and Strum (Note FX): Each have improved device remotes for new/missing parameters, etc.
    • A new advanced logging feature has been added, in case of "out of memory" errors.
      • Why: This is only useful for reporting particular issues to us if you have a crash of this type. These crashes can be difficult to track down, and having this additional logging will help us solve such programs.
      • What: The Dashboard > Settings > Advanced section now has an option under "Out of Memory" Logging to Create a large crash dump file, if an Out of Memory error occurs. The default setting is off.
        • To enable the Advanced section: call up the Commander window ([CTRL]-[ENTER]) and start typing advanced. When the Show Advanced Settings option appears, click on it.
      • How: When enabled, a very large (≈ 3 gigabyte) file will be written if this kind of crash occurs. When Bitwig Studio is restarted, the file will be compressed (≈300 megabytes) and the original file deleted. You will then get a notification with a button to Reveal the file in your OS file browser. [We will only keep one of these files on your drive at a time.]
    Fixes
    • Linux: Fixed graphics issue with Vulkan backend, with knobs not getting painted on some systems [40349]
    • In the Arranger, a time selection including multiple tracks no longer selects even more tracks than desired [40849]
    • Create Automation Clip (via [ALT]-clicking in an automation lane) beneath a note/audio clip with an Offset now correctly places the automation material [40862]
    • Create Automation Clip (via [ALT]-clicking in an automation lane) beneath a looping note/audio clip now creates a Free Time automation clip when automation is already present [40862]
    • Drawing an automation clip that includes existing clips now preserves that automation [40863]
    • Slice in Place (to onsets) is no longer sometimes broken [40672]
    • Audition Tool: Other tracks are no longer audible for a split second after releasing the mouse [40877]
    • Sliding the content of an Arranger audio clip works again when there's a large fade [40876]
    • Automation no longer plays incorrectly [40908]
    • Using BWCURVE data automation clips now uses the original curve's name [38881]
    • The first note in Launcher clips is played, even when pre-roll is active [40788]
    • Automation thinning is now consistently applied to the whole curve
    • Automation clips now loop correctly after recording [40872]
    • Automation clips now loop correctly after enabling parent note/audio clip loop [40872]
    • Free Run is no longer enabled for automation clips from irrelevant actions on the parent note/audio clip [40917]
    • Add Scene From Playing Clips now includes transport automation clips [40921]
    • When using Ableton Link with a time offset, the project BPM will display correctly in all cases [40740]
    • Tracks can be created again from the context (right-click) menu when clicking on an existing track header [39260]
    • Navigating track selection with arrow keys no longer stops at parent group tracks [40861]
    • Note Out (I/O) Grid module: Now works consistently in Poly Grid again (a regression) [40716]
    • Dragging samples onto a device that uses layers (like Instrument Layer or Instrument Selector) now loads the samples into individual layers again (a regression) [40886]
    • Various LFO modulators: Fixed certain modulation cases of Phase (such as when audio stopped with the "Transistor Organ" preset) [40657]
    • Sampler (Synth) device: Soundfont (SF2) files load in Repitch mode again [40898]
    • VST Plug-ins: Parameters have a control again in their automation lane headers [40675]
