I am looking for a mobile app (ios or android) that lets you record yourself playing a guitar and immediately gives you the notes you just played - like melodyne with polyphonic detection - except on mobile device.

Running Melodyne (a PC/Mac-based audio editing application) on Android via Winlator is theoretically possible, as Winlator acts as a Windows (x86_64) emulator/compatibility layer using Wine and Box86/Box64. However, because Melodyne is a complex, high-latency audio application rather than a game, this approach faces significant performance and functional hurdles.

Melodyne probably isn't going to happen on your mobile device, but are you sure it is even what you want? It sounds like you want the polyphonic note detection of Melodyne, but without the editing functions. That could be easier to find a substitute for, than Melodyne.

Think about what Melodyne actually works like. Microscoped note blobs, zooming into pitch drift, splitting syllables, adjusting transitions, formants, timing handles. There has to be a better option than this for a mobile. :suicide:

Why not just access a web audio to midi ai webpage which will do this simply.
songscription.ai is free. Google for others.

    Is it good though?

As clone said - yes, melodyne's audio transcription is what I am looking for. Except melodyne does it best, as far as I know. All the apps I found that transcribe audio are monophonic (only one note at a time - useful if u sing).

Emulating melodyne on android seems like a complicated alternative. I'm just looking for an obscure app that does this. "Nail the Pitch" is a good one, but it's monophonic only.

a few months ago i tried some of these -- around 10 and they all were crap.

there could be some pitch detection apps in play store, even for free.
