Andrew Ranken (born November 13, 1953, in London; died February 10, 2026) was an English drummer.
He became famous for his work with the Anglo-Irish folk-punk band The Pogues.

Andrew began playing drums at the age of 14. During his college years, he played in a band called Lola Cobra and spent a lot of time at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club. When the group broke up, Andrew sold his drum kit to finance a hitchhiking tour of Europe. After the tour, he joined the 13-member pub rock group The Stickers, where he took over vocal duties.

Shortly afterward, Andrew's neighbors in King's Cross, Shane MacGowan and Jem Finer, asked him if he would be interested in playing drums in the band they were putting together. However, due to his commitments as a singer with the band The Operation and his studies, he didn't have the time. A short time later – in March 1983 – he changed his mind and became a permanent member of Pogue Mahone.

This also explains why Ranken wasn't on the cover of *Red Roses for Me*. The cover was designed before he joined the band. The song "Four O'Clock in the Morning" (Pogue Mahone) was written by drummer Andrew Ranken and, like "My Baby's Gone" (Waiting for Herb) before it, deals with the death of his wife, Deborah Korner. She passed away shortly before the recording sessions for *Waiting for Herb*. He participated in all the recordings until the band's breakup in 1996.

Afterward, he joined the bands Metropolitan Waterboard and Kippers, which were fronted by actor Paul Bradler (EastEnders). Ranken has been playing with the Pogues again since the reunion concerts in 2001. He also sings in Andrew Ranken and Mysterious Wheels and plays drums for the Recidivists. He also played drums on the soundtrack for Macbeth at the Barge Puppet Theatre near London.

Ranken lived with his family in Stoke Newington, near London. He has two children, Nell and Daniel.
