This track is horrendous (nothing to do with Wytse) but there's a more than 90% chance everything you mention was done before it was even sent to him.

    Hey hi :)
While i generally agree i have a different opinion. Yes you can do all those things. BUT.
I have been in this for too long and many others here. I surely have no interest in acquiring any other skill than musical ones, nor did i when social media and youtube became popular. And when i did learn other skills it was either inconsequential or mandatory. Like learning to cook because i lived alone for several years when i was younger. Learning electronics & computers because they were strongly related to music making and eventually recording/producing.
I strongly believe we need a music industry, just not a corrupt one. When lawyers and accountants took over the industry, it was obvious to those who were active artists back then, that this was the start of the end, not the internet not the mp3 not torrents not the -sort of- death of physical media. All these may have played a role but wasn't the real reason for the industry collapsing. The industry needed to be "governed" by those who care about music first, figures second. But rather it became even worse and now we have entities like Universal Music Group who bought half the planet's rights and wants to fuck everyone in the ass while getting getting paid for it, just because they can.
We need a different kind of foundation that will handle all the bullshit of everything else other than making music. For the past 25 yrs or so, i keep hearing, even by younger gens, that today's music is crap and they don't make it like in the 60s,70s or the 80s or even the 90s. Well, when the music industry's sales have collapsed and current labels play the role of a glorified advertiser, music artists probably don't need this. It means giving up a lot for very little in return. So everyone now has to step up with skills that involve everything else other than making music. I keep listening to new artists that pretty obviously spent half an hour or less in creating a song/track/beat, whatever you wanna call it, and another 8 hrs in promoting it. Some even brag for the speed they can lay down a "beat" like it adds any artistic value to it or themselves.
So how do we expect those songs to be any good when their creators will put their strongest effort in promoting themselves, rather than producing the best music they could possibly do.
Personally and i have said this way back before again, fuck this, if this is the new truth i refuse to accept it.
This is not my truth. My truth says artists should be able to create at all times. All the rest is just distraction. Not spend countless hrs promoting or even training AI agents and bots to do it for you, if you like. The content in modern music most of the times hurts not because of the lack of talent. Because music creation for the most part has lost its focus and has reduced itself to a stripped, simplistic form that even an idiot could appreciate.
In my prime years we had no Jacob Collier, no Dirty Loops, no Vulfpeck, no Louis Cole, no Snarky Puppy to name a few. These are phenomenal musicians on a completely different, higher level than the average Joes of the past who got lucky with a hit single once. But here is the elephant in the room. Those average Joes had an active label to back them up and actually create the premise for them to get lucky even if it was just for one time or perhaps more in some cases.
Imho if a track like Dirty Loops-"Rock" you was released 30 or even 40 years ago, it would be massive and way more popular. It's sort of the epitome of pop and musical prowess. Like Tower Of Power meets Toto meets MJ meets Stevie Wonder. Even Quincy Jones productions didn't help boost 'em commercially. This remains a sleeper hit, like all other Dirty Loops tracks. Some would argue that it's music who can only be appreciated by musicians but they will be wrong. Why? They never had the proper exposure they deserve. I never ever heard any of their tracks on the radio. And my wife has it on all the fkn time. Asking friends in London and New York, Chicago, it is the same there too. Same goes for Jacob Collier who 's been smashing the Grammys btw. So while YT made those musicians known to a wider audience, they remain far from being commercially successful. If it wasn't for live gigs all these guys would be fundamentally broke. And it's amazing how all these artists have a keen core following and still don't enjoy commercial success. Anyone who has seen Vulfpeck live will witness what i am saying, as i have never in my life before have seen 15-20000 people singing a fucking bassline, or at least a portion of them. It is unheard of, but it's a fact with Vulfpeck.

This is why we need a healthy industry that will focus on preserving artistic freedom and give a chance to new talent to reach a wider audience. What we don't need is shark lawyers to wrap artists in binding hell-ish contracts that will only benefit their own pocket. These can fuck off.
So. While i 've said all these, i don't see this "industry renaissance" happening anytime soon if ever. The future remains bleak and i am reluctant to see any real evolution. Artists have been reduced to promoters and so have labels. It would take a miracle to return to the basic pure fundamentals that made a label a foundry that active music artists would seek as a "roof over their heads" for their artistic expression.
    Cheers

    Very clever

You could go nuts with this cynicism with history too like:
Alexander - "I'm happy with a tiny island".
    Goliath - "It's just a kid with a slingshot"
Abraham Lincoln - "It's just a play we don't need security"
...................... so on and so forth

    On the video:

It's no longer available. Confucius Say man who get kicked in testicles, is left holding bag.
